Actually, I found the Oregon Spirit Rye to be much worse. As harsh as the initial taste is of the Laphro, I was surprised at the finish. I only took a small sip, but I'll give it a real chance soon. Will try with and without ice. On that day, I'll decide if I wasted $40 or not. :)

Odd question but what is this boards consensus on sourced whiskey? Do you try to avoid it? Don’t care? Over priced generally?

I don’t generally care, but I like to know where it’s sourced from. If I see “Distilled in Tennessee”, I’m wary because I know it’s most likely Dickel. If it’s distilled in Indiana (MGP), I’m fine with it. Same with distilled in Kentucky (which are the 3 most typical states that you’ll see sourced whiskey from).

So what should I be looking for on the label to determine if it’s sourced or not?
Eta: was at Costco this afternoon and was hoping to find the OF pack, but I guess it was a holiday run. Really nothing impressive

I'm an amateur but I typically check the label to see if it's "distilled by" or "produced by". I read that somewhere and used it.
