Thanks TA. If you come across something new you like, please share. I just picked up a Laphroaig 10 year. First pour will be tomorrow.

Talk to me Nola. Too medicinal for you. That was one of the complaints. Some liked the smoke. Some didn't.

I enjoy finding out if I like a new pour or not. Had an Oregon Spirit Rye yesterday that was awful

I find lephroig muddy. Not sure if that’s the best explanation, but it’s what I got from it. People love it though. It just isn’t for me.

Laphroig has a very distinct wet wood that has been burnt in a fireplace taste followed by wet salty ocean seaweed with some fruit notes on the finish....but in a good way. Hahaha. I like the Laphroig line but it definitely is unique and not everyone is a fan.

I don’t even really taste smoke...it’s just some strong hospital sterilization Band-Aids some thing or another. Can’t put my finger on it but I just can’t do it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'll report back tomorrow. Hoping it's one of those "it's a weird taste but it's more weird that I like it" scenario. If not, I'll shelf it for others that come over to try.

Spot on! Muddy is a good word.

I posted this before, but for those looking for a guide into peat.

Ardbeg is sweet peat. Lagavulin is oily peat. Laphroaig is dirty peat.

Laphroaig is a monster, but a great dram once you can pierce the smoke and find the other notes.

Nice banana notes. Should go well with the king cake.
