Finally picked up the NOBF Wilderness. Not sure what took me so long. Really good stuff.

Is the bourbon still hanging around anywhere?

I have the rye and it's awesome and I usually don't even drink ryes.

I saw some in BR recently as well. I know I'm in the minority, but didn't think their regular release bourbon (high wheat variety) was all that great. This one is excellent and will likely make me revisit the brand in general.

Yep. Super smooth for the proof. Classic Bourbon profile with the decadence turned to 11. No weak spots at all, period. Id buy 3 more if it were avail.

1,2PD is a blind taste of the standard blantons to the krewe. Going to enjoy both with some chocolate and a cigar, because life is good.

It's noticeably better than the standard bottle imo... shocker

Been letting it rest. Just started nosing it. Standard has a grape/blueberry smell? Very bery. Krewe has that but I sense more spice to it. It seems a bit more complex. I like both.

Going to start tasting soon. Taking my time with it to try and really get a good sense of both.

ETA: funny, now I’m getting a strong cherry note on TA, and the standard getting more oaky. TA one getting sweeter on the nose. They are so similar but you can tell there’s a distinct difference. I’m not good at picking out notes, but I can sense they are not the same if that makes sense.

Ok. I find the Standard brings more bitterness. Has a stronger char flavor than TA (if I’m I describing it right). TA comes off a bit more well rounded, as if I can taste more going on. Again it’s difficult to point out the differences, but I can tell it’s there. I actually liked TA better but guessed it was the Standard. That bitterness came off as more age to me, and I was wrong. So before seeing which was which I honestly thought the standard was the one I liked. Glad I guessed them wrong, because the TA one is definitely better.

Both are excellent though.

Hahaha I’m just seeing this post. Yeah I had my hatchet this time. Seriously this chocolate->cigar->TA Blantons is a great rotation
