Whiskey/Bourbon/Scotch appreciation thread Volume III
Going to Volume III made me think back to when we had the Bourbon Back Channel.

Anybody else remember those days?

I remember, and I remember the original safety meetings when they opened up Olive or Twist just for us and we ended up with a pretty good crowd drinking a lot of good juice

You're old school Jelly Clown. I see actual matches in your pic. Lol. Used some the other day and thought "am I the only one using these things these days?"

Hey drock, how is the sazerac rye? I see several of you posting pics of it. I checked my total wine in georgia but they don't have it. I'll have to get it on my next trip down. For $18, I suppose it's worth a try based on how many of you are drinking it.

I have been sipping on a Woodford Wheat that is a decent pour.

This pics we’re posting are of TA’s Saz Barrel Pick, it’s very good.

A lot of places down here did picks of it, so give one of those a try if you can.

Regular saz is great for making OF I think. TAs is a bit better than the run of the mill so I like that one by its self. The regular is worth trying for sure.

Thanks. Quite a few family members thought I needed bourbon and whiskey for Christmas so I have a decent stock for now. But always interested in adding. Might hit up one of the OF Costco deals you guys keep posting. Thanks for the info.

Not to break the rules and mention rum, but El Dorado 21 is a great pour if you're in the market.

Those were the days when we called bottles like Blanton’s and EHT Taylor shelf turds.

Have you tried any Kilchoman offerings. The Sanaig and Loch Gorm are both great and for the profile you described.

I have not. The ones I had posted are really the only ones I have tried so far. I did try Talisker Storm back last summer, and I was on the fence with it. Considering it was my first ever peat pour, I think that was to be expected.

I have been researching the ardbeg uigeadail, and this seems to fit my flavor profile. I am unfamiliar with Kilchoman, so I'll look into this one. I am just entering the Islay game, so I'm still very new to this. The ones I like though I have been enjoying a great deal.

I like Talisker a lot, but Storm is just average. Not something I’d buy again. The 10 and 18 are really solid and Port Ruighe is fantastic but impossible to find.

I haven’t had the Ugeadail but it’s on the list of what to buy next. Ardbeg has never disappointed.

This is my favorite distillery. They’ve been around since 2005, I think it was the first new Islay distiller in over 100 years. Of their core line, Sanaig is just wonderful. That’s the bottle that really turned me on to Scotch.

They also release a handful of limited edition offerings each year. All are great. I’ve got 13 different Kilchoman bottles and every one of them is good if not great.

Their lowest priced bottle is Machir Bay. It is a good classic Islay whisky, but probably my least favorite bottle they produce.

It's one of my favorite bottles on my shelf. What did I give you for it? EHTBP?

Man, I don't even remember now Was it may be a few different open bottles you had like some ETLBP, Old Ezra and a cpl others or something like that? I was just glad to have it gone to someone who liked it...cuz I did not.

The whole ETL lineup was my fav daily pour stuff for years. Really sad to see it go to the flip side.

Anyone had this release?

The nostalgia of Smooth Ambler Rye from a few years ago got to me when purchasing, but it is straight terrible. No flavor at all and doesn't open up even after proofing it down with a splash of water. Only alcohol burn.

That's another one that brings a tear to my eye those SAOS were da bomb but I have yet to be impressed with their new (aged themself) bottles.
