It is. It was my grandfather’s (he died several years back) and I’ve had the privilege to carry it and kill a few birds with it.

Time to show a little love to (or at least try) Landry Stakes bourbon, which won a lawsuit filed by billionaire, Tilman Fertitta, owner of Landry’s Seafood Restaurants. Fertitta sued alleging that Zach Landry (of New Iberia) couldn’t use the name “Landry” on the label of his bourbon. A Harris County jury sided with Zach Landry and Landry Stakes. Story HERE.

Now that Landry Stakes can stay alive, it’s time to give it a try.

Looking forward to cracking one of these bad boys. Also scored an Old Rip Van Winkle from Walmart yesterday too.

Fun pour to have because of its rarity but I found EC18 to be a little oaky and bland.

IMO, it’s one of those bottles that definitely varies greatly among the single barrels. I’ve had some that are very solid. And others that came in last place in a blind behind some sub $50 bottles.

Always an oak bomb which I like on occasion. Never had one that was bland. Much oak, butterscotch. Proofing these bottles down is always going to dumb them down.
