Speaking of 4R, this just dropped last week. I'll never pass on a 4R pick and they have been easier to find lately (several Nola stores and oak point dropped barrels last year close to the same time).

They have actually expanded their recipes by adding two mashbills. One is ridiculously high rye (43%) and the other is 85% corn. That gives them twenty recipes. I have yet to see any of the new ones though.

It's nice they're finally rolling out different recipes with the standard sibs. Those are easy to recommend if you haven't tried the recipes. It took me several years to collect all ten recipes (not going for 20), in part because nine recipes could only be found in private selections.

I too love some 4R. I would love to find a bottle with the high rye mashbill.

Evening baws, FPD fresh crack back home from the hospital

Interesting story on this one. Back in 2008 Buffalo Trace contract distilled bourbon for Wild Turkey for some project that apparently never came to fruition. Wild Turkey sent their grains over to Buffalo Trace and Buffalo Trace used the typical 75/13/12 WT mashbill, but used their own yeast strain. So this is a 16 year Kentucky bourbon distilled by Buffalo Trace, using the Buffalo Trace yeast strain, but using Wild Turkey grains and mashbill.

Epic,

How did everything go? I hope Mom and baby are doing well!

Interested in hearing your thoughts on the BT/WT barrel. A local group had a connection for one through river roots but it was more expensive than RR15 (retail) so I reluctantly passed.

Thanks! Mom and baby are doing great! Made it back home this morning. Her big sister is very excited for her new role

This bottle was not cheap by any stretch, but is awesome. Aged oak, caramel, vanilla, and cinnamon. If I had this in a blind I would probably think it was Willett…
