I tried the bourbon and the rye last time I shopped, and I liked the rye much better so I got that. Pretty good.
I found a Driftless Glen Wheated straight Bourbon 100 proof on clearance for 27 this week, but for now I'm sweating at football tryouts. Tonight...

This is excellent!! Very unique and surprising, I was expecting a lot of port flavor notes but the dominant note I got in the nose was.chocolate. Multiple chocolate flavors, fudge, chocolate cake, chocolate truffle, very much a chocolate bomb in the nose. Digging deeper I detected fruit some sweetness but it is a very heavy thick sort of sweetness, yes the port is coming through but not to the extent I expected. It flows smoothly over the palate, and goes right into the finish. WOW it opens your eyes and Oak chocolate and port flavors pop back up vividly for a medium to long finish. This is well connected from nose to finish, quality throughout the pour. I’m getting a back up next week this will not be around long. Cheers !

My brother-in-law gifted me a bottle of Colonel EH Taylor and Leiper’s Fork. I want to return the favor and know that he prefers wheated and double-oaked or toasted bourbons. Any suggestions come to mind?

It’s not distributed here, they are a rather small operation that specializes in sourcing whiskey from a few different distilleries. I don’t know that they are in any physical stores. They sell some bottles on their website, you can get some from Seelbach’s occasionally, and there are certain whiskey groups that have purchased barrels from them.
