Neat unless the proof is too much then ill add some crushed ice and melt it till I get the consistency I want.

does the ball make that big of a difference?

yes it last much longer than ice cubes, nobody wants a watered down pour, but a little ice melt helps brings out all the flavors & aromas i find
i use it in my OF's and Manhattans every time

Yeah doesn't dilute the shite out of it like normal ice cubes.

I am in Mississippi and stopped in a liquor store to see what they had. There was nothing special, but I was talking with the owner and she said that Eagle Rare was being discontinued in Mississippi. Any truth to this? Is this state wide, regional or country wide?

Anyone tried Lock Stock & Barrel 13 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey? Found a couple of bottles on a shelf at the other liquor store in Greenville Mississippi and picked one up...

Please post your thoughts on the Lock Stock and Barrel after you taste it. It's been staring at me from the shelf recently but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Is $45 a decent retail for this?

Posted on 4/8/15 at 2:20 pm to GeauxColonels
$40 seems to be the norm everywhere I see it.
I drink neat, occasionally I will throw a few whiskey stones in the glass. Chills down the whiskey without diluting it. Really surprised I havnt seen more pictures on here with people using whiskey stones

Not true. Most of Buffalo Trace products are being highly allocated and now are special orders. There was a similar rumor about Old Weller Antique a while back. Neither are true.

Overall, it's good, fairly complex and easy to drink rye. I like it, but I don't think it's worth the hefty price tag which is what scares most off in the first place.
