Don't kill the guy for bringing a Scotch question to the thread... even though it's in the title.

My wife just gave me a bottle of Oban 14 yr as an early Christmas gift. I've never had this one before and was wondering what y'alls thoughts on it were. Oh, and she gave it to me early because she wanted to make sure I liked it. I'm sure I'll love it, and I'll open it up Christmas day.

I really like Oban 14. Easy to drink with lots of flavor of woodiness and some sweetness. Doesn't punch you in the mouth with tons of peat.

Last Oban I had reminded me of isopropyl alcohol and smoked saw dust.

Altho I have never tried it I had heard it was a good easy one to drink. I just never had a scotch I liked so no idea really.

I guess your sarcasm meter is broken. I was making a joke because of the pappy thread. I guess it went over your head.

Yeah, something with tons of smokiness and peat usually are a turnoff to people that don't drink scotch a whole lot. When I was heavier into scotch they couldnt be smokey enough. Never enjoyed peat as much.

I guess it is like asking an amber drinker to appreciate a good DIPA or Gueze.

Anyone know if Ruffinos has a good bourbon selection?

Cool. I appreciate the feedback. I've had the Laphroaig 10 recently and enjoyed it. It could have had a little less peat in it though.

I guess thats it...just something about it. Altho the last scotch I had tried is JW blue and I was told thats my problem....I just couldnt do it

Ruffinos, I think its pretty average selection there. Earlier this year they had Stagg and handy so I went a couple times and drank it until they told me they were out. I called them after this years release and asked if they got anymore to witch the lady said yes we have that in stock after going ask. I had my doubts but went anyway. Sure enough....they stoned listening after I said buffalo trace and didnt pick up antique collection. Sooo...they did not have any as of a cpl weeks ago. I would go to social if your looking for good drinks.

I know in the past I've been able to get GTS there. Never really explored beyond that.
