A friend of a friend got it from the gift shop in KY

It should be in LA soon.. It's already hit several states and online retailers. It's good but I dunno if $40/375mL good...

I had it last night for the first time. One of our buddies brought some back from KY. We were pretty disappointed in it. It's not very complex and basically just tasted like stronger Maker's Mark. I definitely prefer Makers 46 to it. Definitely not worth the price of admission. Glad I got to try it before I spent the money getting some.

The ones I stumbled on in Texas were $28.99, which I think is a good price for it...$40/375ml is a little high IMO...

Picked up that barrell strength obsv from calandros and that Fred Noe knob Creek. I'm doing a Monday night football tasting. My pallet is still learning.

Tried some Bulliet frontier whiskey yesterday, it was good, fairly smooth, but not a lot of flavor. Elijah Craig is better in my opinion.

Opened mine last night. Just tasted like stronger Makers. Not much difference at all from regular Makers other than a little more bite.

Yeah, it's disappointing at the price point. Maybe we just had too high of expectations, but I had read some pretty good reviews. My buddy was given it as a gift and we both agreed that we're glad we didn't spend any money on it.

In other news, I'm not sure if anyone else has opened a Midwinter Night's Dram, but that stuff was excellent. It is very balanced and has some good savory apple and plum notes with some good rich grape as well on the nose. The palate was equally impressive with fruit forward then get some good allspice and cinnamon spice in the middle and had a good long finish with the rich fruit coming forth on the very end again. It definitely makes for a great cold weather sipper.

I gotcha.. Well since I've come across this thread it's fueled my desire to branch out an try different whiskey's..

Used to be just a crown and coke and be ok guy.. But now I won't drink crown unless its my only option..

I've picked up a lot of different bottles based off of you guys recommendations alone and haven't been disappointed yet..
