So nice I posted it thrice.

Really liking it. I didn't even try a dash of water or a cube on the second glass because it's just right neat.

Indeed.

No metallic taste noted in this one.

I'm pretty terrible at identifying tastes, but I think I got like clove cigarette minus the smoke, and mint tea leaves. Spicy finish sits on the tongue for a while, in a great way. Making for a nice slow drink.

I did a side by side at a store of bulleit and the Willett Rye. Willet is about $15 more, but it blew the bulleit away, IMO.

How much you looking to spend? EH Taylor rye is very good and can be found in town but it's about $70. Handy is my favorite but your chances of finding any on a shelf are low. Other than those two i dont drink a lot of rye

I'm a Houston resident now (unfortunately) so "in town" may not apply to me.

I'm willing to take a chance on anythong $50 and below. Above that and I need a taste first.

Sounds like Willet Rye has some promise as GR suggested. Not a huge fan of Willet, but I never tried their rye. frick it. They never made a bad barrel.

I will report. Thanks guys. And happy drinking

Hey, fricker.

You'll find Taylor rye at specs, and I'm pretty sure it's less than $70. Can't remember the price, but I know the barrel proof was the most expensive at $65.

No disrespect. But I've been a lifelong resident of south Louisiana. Been a transition as of late. But I do love the women in midtown.

But yeah, its my bi-monthly trip to specs warehouse tomorrow and looking to explore. Handle of JBW for day drinking, Jamey 12, and KCSB on the grocery list. But I need a new rye. Thanks for the help brotha!

Same for 22 years. I really like Houston too, though. It will never replace home, but it's a pretty good consolation prize. I didn't take any offense.

I'm one of only about 4 people with this opinion, but the 4 year Willet rye is fricking awful. I would guess it is equal parts vodka, pickle juice, and brown toilet water. I may have just got a bad bottle but I HATED it. I have a very low opinion of anything new coming from KBD.

I'd like to get the four of you together for a round table discussion to see what other crazy opinions you all have.

Lol, I know. I think I must have gotten a bad bottle/barrel. I've only seen 2 other people online that hate it. I let 4 other people try my bottle and they all hated it.

A lot of my opinions differ from the groups, so take this with a grain of salt. I tried JPS 25 last night. I enjoyed it quite a lot. Very smooth, fairly complex, and not over oaked like I was afraid it would be. With that said, its not worth its price. At over $150 a bottle, I expect the juice to be exceptional. I would have no problem buying this bottle in the $50 - $75 range.

I found old Rip Van Winkle last night at a hotel bar. I asked the lady bartender how much was it, she said " I don't know there isn't a button for it, I'll just charge you the Basil Hayden price" that it was next to on the shelf. So I proceeded to drink ORVW for $8.75 a drink!

That is a good drink for $8.75! Let us know where that was...
I would rather drink that then Basil's!

Tried two new bourbons last night, Noah's Mill and Rock Hill Farms. I could taste the similarities between Blanton's and Rock Hill Farms and I think Rock Hill Farms is better. The Noah's Mill was very different than anything else I've had. I will buy a bottle of each next time I see them.

Completely agree and something I've tried telling people for a long while. The RHF benefits from a little more age and higher proof.
