Great pour at retail if you enjoy that port taste. I like it. If you don't enjoy it then it might not be a good use of your $.

How is it? Admittedly I think the whole Ocean thing is marketing hogwash but I enjoy higher proof bourbons, just not sure I want to pay $80+ to gamble on an Ocean's product.

FPD - IW Harper.

I think calling it a Toyota Corolla is giving it too much credit, to be honest. I think there are better options at this low price point. It would probably make a decent mixed drink.

Just got mine tonight, can't wait to pop it. Does it compare with Calandro's 12yr?

I don't remember the Calandros pick that well but that bottle right there is incredible... But I've never had a bad bottle from Farris.

That's a bummer. I follow this thread quite frequently and usually I see bottles that cost more than I'm willing to spend. I'm not really a collector. I keep around three bottles or so at a time and drink them.......nightly. That Harper was on my short list of bourbons to add to my rotation. I'll still probably try it. Eagle Rare, Elijah Craig, McKenna 10, Bulleit, Knob Creek, Makers, etc are some of my usuals. Any other suggestions around that price point?

I'm no expert, but for my money ($27 for Harper) I prefer regular old Buffalo Trace, Elijah Craig, ER10, 4R Small Batch, and Woodford (if you can get it at the Navy Exchange for $19). I'm not saying Harper is horrible, but there's just something off with it.

Heading to 30a in a couple days. Any recommendations on good places to shop for bourbon? Maybe find some Rock Hill Farms?

Doubt you'll find any RHF, but seek out some of the Wine Worlds (there are a couple). Had a good selection, that's where I scooped up a random Michter's 10 Rye a month or so ago.

Good luck on the hunt!
