Had to swing by cool dude emporium and pick up another bottle of their barrel select Old Scout Rye before it becomes a "Limited Release". When that happens it will be kept in the back for the cool dudes and I won't stand a chance haha

Need the board's opinion on a trade. EHT Barrel proof for a Michter's Toasted Barrel and Old Weller Antique. I have plenty of antique which is why i havnt pulled the trigger yet

Have you had the Toasted Barrel before? I really like it. It's very sweet and caramel notes are strong. Big fan of it. I would do that trade but that's me, especially since you can still find barrel proof on shelves and what not but Michters was a limited release.

Oh also next weekend at our event we are giving away an EHT barrel proof too so you could win it back.

Who still has Barrel Proof?

Maybe you can't but I saw some at Calandros not too long ago. I know you can get it on the trade groups for around $100 so not much mark up there.

Calandros had it as of last Saturday.

Jcans, multiple places in Lafayette still have it. I would make that trade without a doubt. The Toasted was one of the best surprise bottles in the last year for me.
Bought and tried The Blood Oath today. I was actually very impressed as opposed to the reviews I've seen. Less than notable nose, but sweetness up front...lots of sugar, vanilla, caramel and some light floral. The mouthfeel was very viscous, almost like a dessert. And the finish was long and warm. Healthy amount of spice that was obviously the rye part of the mix. Very well balanced and had a decent amount going on. Just wish for a better nose. This was only a brief tasting neat upon opening.
Has anyone had the Glen 20 before?

Am I the only one who likes 60/40 more?
Posted on 8/14/15 at 7:40 pm to JCANS
I did a blind tasting and liked the 50/50 a lot more, they were not aged though

Jcans, no I'm with you. I had the same a while back and everyone else was 50/50. I didn't measure it exactly 60/40, just the eyeball scale.

50/50 for me. Quite honestly I prefer Weller 12 straight up.
Posted on 8/14/15 at 8:06 pm to jflsufan
Weller 12 was a close second. My blind taste test results were:
1) 50/50
2) Weller 12
3) 60/40
4) OWA 107

See I think I like Antique more than the 12 so guess it makes sense that I prefer the 60/40
