How is that 4 square rum. I have heard it’s pretty good.

Where does one find four square in Louisiana? Been looking for it for quite a while now.

I am starting to feel like a cross between Johnny Depp in “Blow” and Cosmo Kramer trying to sell bottle deposits to Michigan.
I am thinking of driving to Tennessee and buying a small utility trailer full of barrels, cutting out my middle man in Reserve, LA.
He charges $100 a barrel. Between my truck and a 10’ utility trailer, I could fit probably 20+ barrels (maybe more if I lay them down and stack them).
I wonder how much a barrel cost in Tennessee?
20 barrels from Reserve is $2000.

BTW, this is the bourbon talking

Looks like you took an ax to that wax but figured it out with the Makers mark in the back,

Very pleased with Bourbon War. Outside their pink wax cask strength this is my favorite from them.

Ok, I’ve been doing the math. It 1100 miles round trip to Lynchburg. If I get 15mpg (low estimate), that $180 in gas.
If I can get 20 barrels for $35 each (just guessing), that’s $700.
One night at the Red Roof, $100.
That comes to $980 for 20 barrels (less than $50 each).
I need to call JD tomorrow or find a distributor/distillery closer, maybe near Memphis, see if I can get raw barrels for $25 or less.

Once again, this is the bourbon talking

These barrels are a thing of beauty. I’ve never been a woodworker/carpenter, so I’ve never understood woodworkers going crazy over a certain wood, etc. But after sanding/staining these barrels, I feel what they feel. These barrels are gorgeous.

All that from some nasty thing like this:

Try getting some Waterlox wood finish and putting that on the sleeves to see how it turns out. It is a tung oil finish that typically brings out the natural beauty of the wood grain

Elijah Craig Launches Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey in Limited Markets

quote:

Elijah Craig Rye is made as a traditional American Straight Rye Whiskey with 51% rye, 35% corn and 14% malted barley. This combination of grains, which relies heavily on corn as the secondary grain rather than a higher percentage of rye, has been the primary Rye mashbill used by Kentucky Bourbon distilleries since taking over virtually all American Rye production post-Prohibition; the same mashbill directly responsible for the Rye resurgence seen today. Extra-aging is a tenet of the Elijah Craig portfolio, and Elijah Craig Rye is no exception. The resulting taste carries a spicy sharpness from the rye balanced with sweetness from the corn. Packaged in the iconic Elijah Craig bottle, the Straight Rye is distinguished by new bottle decoration, face, side and neck labels with green features.

quote:

With an SRP of $29.99, Elijah Craig Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey will first launch in the limited markets of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Oregon in January 2020.

Spec’s Smith usually has a few different ones. Don’t go to Richard’s a lot although I should. It’s fairly close to me.
