I've been wondering about those Game of Thrones bottles also, especially the 9 year Lagavulin.

Good to see the cold weather is getting the thread more active again.

Cold weather had me reminiscing about the old days at the hunting camp in Louisiana. To respect those memories, had to bring out a big gun that got consumed heavily back then

Anyone ever hear of orphan barrels? (I think that's what its called)

Occasionally there are some good old barrels like that. They will get bottled under obscure names or private labels often. Not to be confused with the Orphan Barrel series that Diageo has put out (Rhetoric, Old Blowhard, etc).

I been asking my rep about them...just did today. He still hasn’t heard anything other than sometime this month. No idea if I’ll be tall enough to buy them but I told him I want at least a case of each and the Johnny walker white walker.

Has Calandro's set the raffle date yet? Last year, it seemed late. It usually runs around the 10th of December. TD still meeting up on aisle 10?

Friend of mine in the Dallas metroplex says he is having a hard time finding bottles like Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare (not 17), and Elijah Craig. I'm also seeing this phenomenon on a couple whiskey trading groups on FB.

Those bottles seem fairly common in BR. What gives?

At this rate, all the peons are going to be able to find is Black Jack, Early Times, and Crown.

Should I start stocking up on regular old Buffalo Trace and Eagle Rare?

Different states get different allocations of things. Some may be hard in one state and easy in another. I have not had issues getting BT and ER but that can always change im not a big operation so its up to them. My rep just told me they dont have any ER on hand...again it may be my account doesn't have access all the times...dunno.

States and stores are different. Take baby Saz, we can normally find it on the shelves in most stores, in many states that is a unicorn bottle. I just left Spect in Beaumont, they had good prices but no ER on the shelf. They had some barley meade bourbon which I have not seen on the shelves in Louisiana. When I was in North Carolina a couple of months ago the ABC store I stopped by was very happy they had gotten a case of Buffalo Trace and recommended I purchase the last bottle.

Every state and store is different...

It’s pretty rare in Alabama, ever since a few years ago. Used to be able to walk into any store and pick up trace, eagle rare, blantons, etc..., and now it’s allocated. I’ve always wondered how they pick which states get stuff and which don’t. You can drive to TN or GA and drown in weller SR and Col taylor, but here in AL it’s basically treated like BTAC.

Yea it’s all really a PITA. I think it’s even more so for the store owners and distributors who have to deal with it.

New MS bourbon was released today. It's a blend between their own distillate and some MGP. Pretty tasty overall. Lots of corn on the nose with a bit of caramel. Bit of oak spice up front, sweet corn and vanilla in the middle and moderate spice on the finish. Wish it were a bit higher proof, but not bad for $42.

That is a damn fine bourbon for $60 a bottle.

Anyone had any luck with unicorns this bourbon season? Got a pappy 12 at a lottery about a month ago and a Parker's heritage last weekend. Well over 1000 people at the lottery for 120 bottles of pappy, with the vast majority being teens and twelves. Still waiting to hear about a lottery for btac.

Not yet. Time will tell.

That old foresters is very solid.

Some weller next to the smokeless solo stove. Love this thing!
