So you don't think that they strategically scheduled their renovations?

Of course some are.
But overall it just makes sense, even for those restaurants not downtown

Some businesses in my area close during the July 4th week and there's no festival here.

Walkons - no a pipe burst

domenica - maybe, but i bet its had to do with being open for jazz fest, graduations, then the medical convention followed IPW and be back for Tales of the Cocktail as the biggest drivers.

All kidding aside, would it be a good idea to head to lafayette for night out instead of NOLA this weekend?

Nola will not be bad.
Pick an area that might not be crowded like uptown, bywater, marigny.
Even the riverfront has been drawing good crowds for the fireworks if that is your thing.

I just saw pictures of Lucy's. They are closed for a major renovation. I bet they will be closed for at least two weeks.

Mrs Jambo and I were headed out for a nice dinner and a walk on the riverwalk. Nothing crazy, just a nice peaceful night away from BR.

Other option was something like bread and circus or pamplona in Laffy.

Suggestions?

I would suggest going to Gautrau's, Clancys, Kentons, Brigtsens, Le Petit Grocery. They are all uptown or riverbend and it will not be crazy.
Ya'll could walk up and down the commercial area of Magazine uptown before or after dinner.

I've never been to any of those... how would you rank them?

All in the top 20 of the city. I would assume better than any places in Laffy.

Gautreaus and clancys are a little more "stuffy". Call now for reservations at whichever one you pick.

Here is a listing of all restaurants by hood. You can sort through three sections of "Uptown" if you want to do some more of your own searching.

Yeah, it's pretty amazing to see the depth of the nola restaurant scene.
I only make it out to a good meal once a month or so and I've barely scratched the surface of that uptown list.

so Gautreaus, clancy, or brigsteins...
Any suitable with jeans and button down?
I dont mind dressing the part, but we're going to be walking outside after and would rather not sweat more than necessary. lol

Any on the list would be fine with jeans and button down shirt this time of the year except for Gautreaus.

I really love Kentons and there awesome bourbon/cocktails, but be prepared for sticker shock with that one.

These are some others in the area that are solid that are a little less dressy/expensive for the most part.

Boucherie (last of the places on list that I ate and it's solid)
Atchafalaya
Dick & Jenny’s
Dante’s Kitchen

You can stop on Oak Street and go to the Oak Wine bar. They may have some music. Next door to them is a beer bar.
If you like beer Cooter Browns is there at the end of Carrolton. There is even a specialty craft beer bar in the bar. LOL
