Brown and South Coast are both a step up from Amber, IMO. I prefer South Coast to Brown, but since I can't fricking get it because Parish is shite at distribution, I'll continue to session NOLA Brown if that's what I'm looking to do.

Which Abita flavor is your favorite? FWIW when I set up a beer trade, 9 out of 10 times they specifically ask for no abita. It's popular around here, but generally disliked in most other areas of the country.

Mavens around the country know it sucks, but yet you see purple haze at well respected beer bars in every state. So while i think it sucks and usually avoid abita at all costs (selects have been good lately), people still drink it.

I realize that's a gross oversimplification. It's still a joke you can't buy six-packs of their beer in the largest market in the state.

I love the Brown. But out of Amber, SC, Canebrake, and NOLA blonde I prefer Amber every single time.

And I can't get any Gnarly Barley in the capital city, a mere 40 miles from the brewery. But I'm not gonna take to a public board and bash them for it. Things aren't as easy as they seem.

Like it or not, Parish won't send bottles to New Orleans until they are able to fulfill the whole market. And right now, they simply don't have the means to be able to do that. So you do get draft and the specialty bottles, which are more important.

Only thing we don't get here that I want is Envie. They can keep that other stuff.

As far as Abita goes they are doing a 12 million dollar expansion. Like them or hate them that is good for the in state craft beer scene.

It's literally less than 100 miles and in the same state, so the argument about distance doesn't hold water (or beer). In terms of geographic distance it's trivial and you have no issues (to my knowledge) with trying to change distributors. If you want to make a name for yourself in an expeditious manner, you NEED to be in your biggest local markets. Not just some, but all. I like Parish and their products, but it's a huge headscratcher for me that they can't find a way to make it to NOLA. I understand supply is difficult, but that excuse only carries weight for so long.

How long has Parish been open? How long has Gnarly Barley? Pretty sure there's a difference there. I could be mistaken. Websites say 2008 vs. 2011. That's a notable difference.

So you think they should pull out of laffy and br and start sending all their 6 packs to nola? Im not sure you understand how this all works.

I didn't say that. I'd emphasize my statement, "Not just some, but all." Of course they need to be in Lafayette, it's their backyard. As I said, I get that they are pressed to supply their current markets, but that has been the excuse for at least 2 years now. In at least two years they can't find a way to expand into NOLA? But they can make it to the beer wasteland that is Alexandria? Now THERE'S a market that won't show dividends. Go south, not north.

Are they still selling out quickly in Lafayette and Baton Rouge? Like they were when they first started distibution there?

Just a question as I have no idea. When I've been in Baton Rouge, I haven't had trouble finding it. We can get canebrake here at Martin's Wine Celler (Metairie only from what I've seen) but I haven't seen Envie there yet.

Some places in lafayette keep a very steady flow of bottles, some places have 6 month old bottles. Just depends on where you go.

The more you talk, the more you show your ignorance.

You think fermenting tanks just grow on trees?

No, I think they grow from the dollars they are apparently making from apparently selling out in the markets in which they are already present. Apparently that's happening because, as you've indicated, they can't keep up with the demand for those markets. Hell, maybe they need to buy some news ones just to keep up!

But feel free to be an arse and take personal shots because someone disagrees with you and thinks that NOLA is a potentially lucrative market for a south LA brewery.
