I thought the BGE was a solid product though? IF its so great then what type of problem are all these people having? I have had Weber products for years that are sold by big companies and I have never had to contact them once. people that do claim they have exceptional customer service too. So bottom line.. Why in the hell would I want to buy a BGE when there are other products that simular and of same quality from a company that isnt going to act like jackasses when I buy online or from someone they are not friends with?
BGE warranty replaced my gasket that I fried making pizza at 700 degrees. they also replaced a ceramic piece i dropped and broke, under warranty. Bottom line is they take care of their customers. I'd much prefer that than saving 100 bucks at Sams.

Like I said Weber is pretty much the pennacle of customer support in that area of goods and you dont see BS like that. Makes me question how BGE would respond even if I did buy from one of their backroom buddies.
so weber lets anyone on the planet sell their product? no, they have authorized dealers just like BGE. come on dude... you sound stupid.

Weber has a NO discount retailer policy? Weber states that they WILL NOT honor a warranty depending on where the purchase was made?

You completely missed the point.
The person buying the product at Sams SHOULD NOT be required to search that manufactors website to discover that they DONT HAVE A WARRANTY!
Someone buying the grill from SAMS or Shoppers Choice is most likely going to believe that they would receive the same treatment from BGE as you have based on reputation.

If I'm spending $1000+ on a charcoal grill I might do just a tad bit of research. Not BGE's fault that the customer was lazy/misinformed

Weber only cares about the Serial #. Place of purchase isnt a required field when registering their product.
Comparing Shoppers Choice and Sams Wholesale to "joe bloe on the street" makes you sound stupid.

Yea thats just SUPERB Customer Service right there
Who the frick researches warranty stipulations when making a purchase anyways? They would be likely to compare it to other specs from other companies. But Warranty Stipulations??? Seriously? Its 1000 dollars not 1000000

call it what you want but if you think BGE is the only company on the planet that follows the "authorized dealer" model you are retarded. you dont know much about how that kind of stuff works do you? i can't imagine why any company would want staff that they know is knowledgeable about their product selling that product. or having stores that are going to carry every model they sell, all accessories, and represent their brand well. hell, maybe they just dont want to be associated with discount stores because they dont sell a discount product...

You know the warranty of every purchase you make over 100 dollars?
Would you feel better if I said frick all companies that sell a legit product that treat one set of customers different than others? If you buy from a legit source of business then why choose to not warranty YOUR product! Its not like Sams and Shoppers Choice are black market dealers. If a company cant stand behind THEIR product what good are they. Does Sams sell a knockoff that Im unaware of?

lol..not worth my time anymore.
but by your thinking i'd imagine there are quite a bit of brands and products you dont like because you have to buy it from their authorized dealers.

if Sam's is not authorized, then why does BGE allow then to sell at discount clubs?
it is a shady business practice at best
oh, we will sell you the exact same piece of equipment at a big box, we we wont stand behind it when something goes wrong.....real cool

Thats the problem.. Why is BGE punishing unsuspecting customers instead of having their product pulled from the market. If BGE really believe that their product is worthy of their warranty then why is Joe Blow penalized for the lack of a cease and desist order being issued by BGE? Its not like its a secret that Sams is selling these and BGE just doesnt know about it.
Problem I have is that BGE is increasing its sells by virture of these companies but they are weaseling out of the warranty while reaping profits.

Below is a copy of the email I received in my response to that very question... I'm sorry but Sams Club is not an authorized Big Green Egg dealer. We will not cover grills purchased from them under warranty Our advise is to return the grill and purchase one from an authorized Big Green Egg dealer. For a grill that offers a lifetime warranty to the original owner, it would be unfortunate to lose that benefit. Regards, Duane On Tue, Mar 19, 2013 at 3:04 PM, I purchased a large BGE this weekend from our local Sams Club, as I was registering the warranty I read the statement concerning discount chains not being authorized dealers. My concern is that I now have a BGE that is not covered by a warranty, but I would assume that Sams Club made arrangements to sell your products in advance and were all new stock delivered. Can you please let me know if this is going to be an issue if I ever have a need for warranted service work? Thank you in advance. -- Customer Support Team facebook.com/biggreenegg BigGreenEgg.com

In the BGE world are distributors and a dealer one in the same?
The BGE is even listed on the Sams club site. For anyone that has seen these at a Sams club is there a big sticker on it saying that there is no lifetime warranty?
How do we really know that BGE didnt sell their messups through backchannels to these companies to get rid of their product and they dont have to warranty shoddy work?

Here is what BGE has to say:
Cough Cough HORSE shite! x 1000000
So Costco and Sams club sell these and Sams even has it on their internet site. And I’m to believe BGE actively tries to prevent this from happening when it occasionally does happen to protect their customers???????
Maybe other companies are just more diligent by keeping their product out of the hands of unauthorized high profile dealers. Anyone know of any other products Costco and Sams are not licensed to sell?
Everyone from stockboy to CEO within the BGE corporation has to know for a fact that their product is being sold by Sams Club and Costco. If they dont they are pretty stupid. But bottom line is that BGE makes more money as a result and knows they dont have to warrantly any of it. That stinks.

Occasionally, an unauthorized reseller manages to obtain BGE products and offers them for sale to an unsuspecting customer. There are websites and retailers who may claim to be a BGE dealer, but they are not. Products sold by these sources do not carry a warranty from BGE. We try to prevent it from happening in both unauthorized stores and on the internet. Unfortunately, we do not catch everyone. Please protect yourself by ensuring that you purchase Big Green Egg products from an Authorized BGE Dealer. BGE does not knowingly distribute products into unauthorized channels, so please disregard any nonsense suggesting otherwise.
