I'd switch out the Sazerac Bar for the Polo Club at the Windsor Court, but that's me. Polo has much better atmosphere and isn't sitting open right in the lobby.

You're welcome. I wasn't nitpicking just to nitpick..You'll see at Chimes that it's a 95% emphasis on drinking although the drinks are excellent.

Yeah, I feel ya. I love Sazeracs and have never been, so it's a novelty choice. Appreciated, tho. Thanks for the reservation advice, didn't know they filled up so quickly!

No worries, I appreciate it. Besides, no trip to NO would be complete without an oyster poboy.

It's just not the same to me since the Roosevelt was redone. Looks much like a lobby bar and most quality places make a good sazerac. The Polo Club does (it's the first drink listed on their specialty list) and has the live jazz entertainment that's always good. Serves small plates including dessert. Good ones. Cozy couch, cocktails, dessert, jazz, good atmosphere. However, you should check what you want off your bucket list! I hope you'll report back on food and drink after your trip.

La petite to sazerac is a hike, id do bouligny tavern for post dinner drinks. Spend more on booze than cab fare.

Sorry for the delayed update. Between being to lazy to open a hosting account and an audit at work, I'm just now getting around to it.

Arrived on Friday to a nice little cottage in uptown off Freret st. Settled in and walked to Hi Hat, where I had he best oyster poboy ever, along with perfectly seasoned fried okra that melted in my mouth.

Met up with a buddy of mine for cocktails at cure which were fantastic. Then off to a little Jazz bar close to his place.

Saturday we had lunch at Peche, which was phenomenal. I was skeptical about the gumbo, not went ahead and ordered it and savored every delicious bite; some of the best I've ever had. Ordered the broiled drum for my entree, couldn't have been cooked anymore perfectly; well seasoned and very good.

The lady loves pizza, so we did happy hour at Domenica in the the Roosevelt; where we ran into Marky Mark(sans funky bunch). Really good pizza, but my favorite joint is still Puerto Mott in Buenos Aires. On my way to the restroom, I discovered that Sazerac Bar was just a few doors down in the hotel lobby, so we went ahead and had post dinner drinks instead of coming back that night. I ordered the 1840 Sazerac, and it was everything I'd hoped it would be.

For dinner we went to Petite Grocerie; I was super pumped to go here after everything is heard, and I expect this to be the piece de resistance of our gourmand adventure. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and while good, it was a bit underwhelming. So we left and did the obligatory walk down Rue Bourbon; and thoroughly sauced, we concluded the night with beignets and cafe au lait at cafe du monde and a stroll down the Mississippi.

Sunday morning we got up, excited to go to Ruby Slipper in midtown on the way out, and it was packed; since they don't take reservations the wait was an hour, so we decided to go ahead and hit the road. So we stopped over in La Place, and finished off our wonderful weekend in NOLA with breakfast at IHOP.

Thanks again everyone for the recommendations, my gf and I really enjoyed our trip!
