I buy from Scallan's in Baton Rouge. They will split the backbone, cut off head, even season if you want it.

Find somebody to take you on a hunt. Way more fun.

I saw this in the Louisiana Market Bulletin publication. It the closest on to Baton Rouge that was listed in the classifieds.
York & blue butt mix pigs, 6
wks., $40/1. Warren Lobell, French
Settlement, Livingston Parish; 225-
978-2915.
But you're probably wanting one already dressed and ready to cook.

Roushers Meat Market in Plaquemine have fresh. All the others are frozen. Tell them about what size and they will slaughter it and split it. They will take the head off if you want as well. Don't pay to season. They charge lime twenty to sprinkle Tonys. I get about a fifty pound a couple times a year. It will cook in about six hours and feeds a bunch. Perfect size.

between 2.39 to $2.79 lb. I paid about $240 for a 90-lb, unseasoned.

Its Rouchers Meat Market. 225-687-4258. $2.59 lb. Need a weeks notice and tell them the size.
This is the only place with fresh. Scallans and the others are frozen. Use to by from Wilson Campbell around Turkey Creek but he died.

I saw a sign at LeBlanc's in Prairieville Sunday, they're selling them. I ask about it next time I'm in there.
