Everything else looks good, but if you gonna go through the trouble, make homade chili.

Does Calandro's sell the whole Chisesi hams? Who else in BR sells those?
Only on occassion. If you ask they will get it for you. Sometimes they have them sometimes not. SuperFresh used to carry them but they are gone and Albertson's did for a short while but not anymore.
Try the chili though. It's really good. I like their roast beef sliced thin as well.

You mentioned that chili before and I want to try it. My parents will be around there on Sunday for a few days. I'm giving them a list of supplies that I want from there and some other places along the route.
Wonder who ships Chisesi hams?

That was my Uncle and Aunt's place. She died a while back. I remember going over there all the time as a kid. LOVED the food...hated going in her house. She had several cats and it wreaked.

Everytime I go, I say I'm not going anymore, due to the fact that I'm scared to sit in the parking lot without my hand on my pistol, and they are always out of tamales.

Just talked to Chisesi Brothers. They said all Wal Marts in BR, Baker, Prairieville carry the Chisesi VIP hams. Some carry the chili depending on who is runnning the meat market. Never checked there since I get it at Calandro's. I'll check next time since I'm sure it's cheaper.

MAKE SURE you are getting the BAKED ham not just the boiled ones if you get it here locally. I always just get mine at Dorignacs or Langestines when in N.O.

here's hoping JJ tells his cousin we were smitten with her back in the 70s.
i bet that would at least bring a smile to her face.
(and maybe he'll post some pics)

Are you seriously craving one enough to go to a restaurant?
There is nothing better than going into a Nathan's in NYC and getting a dog man. Everyone should experience it once in their life atleast.

Ivars chili cheese dogs are good, but honestly, no hot dog has better flavor than the ones at the b quick gas station on perkins, idk what it is, but I think thats one of the best hot dogs ive ever had.
Go swoop a couple of those and then add ur own toppings at home.
