Pretty sure he was just taking a swipe at ru
Why would I do that?
I said Heady is good. It's damn good. I've had several other big DIPAs that I put in the same class.
Hes talking about rouge mentioning kane.
I wish kane was so overrated i could get their beers again. Head high in cans soon though!

The beers I've landed from the northeast lately have been ridiculously great.

In summation of this thread , every beer is overrated.

I personally believe the northeast is killing the rest of the country in the ipa game right now.

Northeast game is sick.
West coast needs to step up

Then why are you trying to act like you are?
Back on topic. I hate to single out any one beer, I'd rather hammer an entire brewery
There are a couple that make a rare good one surrounded by garbage. Starting close to home, Abita. I'm embarrassed their product is in craft beer stores in places that should know better.
New Belgium. Thanks for early entry into BR, please up your game.
Avery. A whole lot of meh.
Goose Island? I love BCBS, and the sisters are good stuff too. Better than average IMO

They've absolutely abandoned the old stereotype of East Coast IPAs (beers like 90 minute come to mind here) in favor of much more hop forward and being balanced without being malty or cloyingly sweet

Exactly.
"I traded my crappy stash for X BEER and was disappointed that it did not live up to the hype".
"I had to wait IN A LINE for X BEER that I immediately drank and was disappointed".
"Everyone said that X BEER was fantastic but I didn't think the shelf turd lived up to the hype".
"I bought X BEER because everyone else was buying it and, even though I don't prefer that particular style, I thought that it was overrated".
Don't be an Ahab. Enjoy the experience. Appreciate the time spent with friends new and old.

Hard for me to list a specific beer, if I had to pick one I'd agree with Abyss. It's OK, but to be that high on the BA list is crazy. The Black Butte series is way better IMO.
As far as breweries, I can't call Abita overrated, they are more of a disappointment for such a large brewery to be unable to make something that we can be proud of locally. It would be nice if they could make some trade bait one of these days.
I get what people are saying about the Bruery, but I kind of see them as bizarro Abita. They are willing to take risks and swing for the fences. It doesn't always work, and they do produce some (expensive) crap, but they make Tart of Darkness and Oude Tart so I can't hate them.

I like bright yellow ipas with pale malts that are juicy with minimal malt presence and thats where the northeast delivers these days.
