Saw they were opening up in a couple of weeks on Tchop. Anyone know what the scoop is on this place or know what style of beer they be doing?

Good guy, was there at the beginning of Urban South opening before he later moved on to open this place.

Don't think they will close, just move the brewery. Going to continue to produce is the plan.

The name and the explanation behind it seem really contrived. Space looks nice though and excited for a new brewery

It’s a few blocks from NOLA brewery and evidently they are not going to distribute outside the brewery. Also, I don’t think they are selling other breweries beer there like Courtyard.
My friends company built the brewery and another supplied the equipment so I’m anxiously waiting to check it out but it should be nice inside. Like stated above, the owner has been very involved with Urban South from the start and I believe also worked for another brewery up North.

Miel should do really well. They have a great space and Alex the brewer/co-owner is cicerone certified. Yes, they will make a hazy ipa, but they’ll be making a variety of styles,

His parents are beekeepers, and they provided him and other co-owner/fiancé, Janice, with tons of free Louisiana honey.

They did some research and saw Miel means honey in both French & Spanish. Considering the first 75 years of NOLA were under either French or Spanish reign, it makes sense.

And they plan on using honey as an ingredient in a couple of their brews. Excited to see them open as well

How many breweries can the Irish Channel/Garden District support?

The location isn't the Wayward Owl issue, it's the beer. You're telling me if they were pumping out Urban South-level beers that they would still move locations? No chance.

Seems like throwing good money after bad. I’ve never liked anything I’ve had from them.

Is Miel’s flagship offering going to be a honey brown ale? If so, they may not last long.

Have known Alex for years. He knows his stuff beer wise. He has worked at Abita and spent a few years in Boston at Harpoon as well.

Him and Janice are great people and if his home brew batches are any predictor he will be just fine. Really like the fact that tchoup is turning into brewery row.
