A Middle Eastern grocery recently opened in my town and I noticed they sell ground goat. I have never seen or even heard of it before. Curious as to what kind of dishes you would use this in. Picked up some of their ground lamb and it was top notch. They grind it fresh for you and the same with the goat.

Anything you would do with ground lamb...goat is leaner though.

That is what the guy at the store told me. A leaner meat.

Replace ground lamb with ground goat in any ethnic dish you want.

I mean, I'm Mexican and we eat goat, I could replace anything we use ground beef for with goat and bam...it's Mexican ground goat whatever.

Gotcha. I just didn't know if there were any dishes that traditionally use ground goat rather than lamb or beef.

I'm a big fan of goat. Probably once a year I'll pick up a leg at the halal place in BR and cook it.
It's kind of funny - goat is very popular all over the world, except in the U.S. There are all sorts of Mexican, Indian, Middle Eastern, Greek, Caribbean dishes with goat.

I made a Croatian style Moussaka with ground Audad (essentially a wild exotic goat found in Texas hill country), which we still talk about.

I had a source for goat at the farmers market for a couple years. The ground was very lean and mild. My wife is picky as hell about anything strong or gamey, and she loved it.

Used it for kheema, baked kibbe, hummus topped with meat, stuffed squash, chili.

Chef Grady Spears has a killer goat sausage reciep and it only takes 3lds of meat total.

I can't find good goat meat so I make his pheasant which is also great.

Cowboy in the kitchen is the cookbook.

I thought I had a recipe, but I can't find it. It was something real simple, just marinate overnight with salt, pepper and olive oil, maybe a little lemon and garlic. Although I'm seeing these nice recipes from people like Andrew Zimmern that look great.....
