We always have eaten between 4 and 5 pm depending on whats left to finish cooking and who is still not there.

My mother set this time many many years ago because she was not getting up too early to put a turkey or roast in the oven. We've all stuck to it and normally by the time it rolls around we have grazed pretty good and are several bottles of wine into it. We follow the same ritual at Christmas with a mostly identical menu.

I like it early... between 12-2... and then reload again for dinner.

Usually around 1ish, depending on who all is late arriving.

Let's see...we're told to be at family's house for 1, so we can eat at 2.

We get there every year and nothing is close to being ready, family has been up messing around since 6 but they didn't actually start cooking anything until 11, so dinner is actually whatever time it's done, usually about 3:30/4:00.

I learned a long time ago to eat a good breakfast and feed the kids before we get there.

Usually 2ish. I am trying to get it bumped up to 11am this year so's I can eat, hang out a little bit then haul arse to the camp. But I am meeting heavy resistance from the rest of the fam. I'm on fried turkey and pork loin duty, so I plan on having it sitting on the buffet staring at them by 11. I may need to borrow somebody elses family for the rest of my life..

Usually around 1. To be honest I'd rather have a Thanksgiving breakfast and get it over with. I'm not a fan of spending time with the extended family when everyone is all in the same place. Too many relatives I see once a year asking me the same questions they asked a few years before. I need to wear a sign that says "I graduated from college 4 years ago. You never see me because I live in another state."

I am sure that fat brother in law of yours will be eager to delve off into it around 11.

1 but we'll run late because of my sister and her pokey arse husband. And all she does is the salad and bread.

Na this is my side of the family. The other side is doing Thanksgiving on Friday. My presence was never in question at that one.

call me anti-southern but I've never called anything supper. Breakfast, lunch, dinner.

Call me cajun, but lunch was always 'dinner' - and the 6:00pm meal was always supper

Hence my note of several bottles of wine in before dinner starts. Booze is the only salvation for my family tolerating each other for more than two hours. The good thing is they all have great taste in wine and are eager to share so we really have a ton of great bottles to choose from. But we just choose to open the next one in line after bottle number three. Probably thirty wine and several sparkling will go down.
