1) Diners who blow their nose at the table.

2) Eating from another person's plate. (I know it's acceptable, I just don't do it and don't like it at the table.)

I was with a group of 10 women in BR last week, but I'm hilarious. When I dine out, people wish they were sitting at my table.

Although I must admit that they can be a pain in the arse in places.

1. Guys who order before their date
2. Servers who let them order before their dates
3. Entrees served on top of apps
4. Snoody servers
5. Waiters asking how everything is 4 or 5 times during entrees and hovering over table(Pay Attention).
6. Parents not having control over their children and not caring.
7. Crappy food

Having never heard of the "never remove plates before all diners are done" despite waiting tables for 10 years I googled it to find out if I was out of my mind and out of line.

And I don't think there is a right or wrong when it comes to plate removal. There was a distinction between "Dinner Party" and "Restaurant"...and quality of a restaurant.

It's pretty standard for servers to know to only remove plates when all guests are finished in higher end dining.

But, not everybody knows this is protocol. I was actually snapped at by a guy who said, "I've been finished for 10 minutes, and you've just left my dirty plate in front of me". I just and explained to him that we generally try to wait for your date to finish her plate to remove the plates from the table as we don't want her to feel like she's eating alone.

This essentially happens 100% of the time at Japanese restaurants unless you intentionally space out the ordering yourself.

Yeah, this one annoys the hell out of me, but at anything but high-end places it happens regularly.

Or on top of the salad if not the appetizers.

Unless I'm in a hurry, I order apps first and entrees later for this very reason, although one restaurant told our table we had to order it all at once because it would be too spaced out. We didn't, though. I stood my ground to his great dismay and the timing was just right. Wasn't an overly long meal at all, so they still got to turn the table at a decent rate. The tip wasn't nearly as large as it would have been though it was generous.

Only way I do it anymore.

My biggest problem with Cochon is that they prefer you to order all your food at one time. Sure enough, entrees will come rolling out right on top of my apps. Last time I even told them I'm not in a hurry and that I do not want my entrees coming out before I'm done w/ my apps, and of course, here they come before I'm done w/ my apps. Makes me

It really does affect the enjoyment of my dining experience when food comes out on top of food. They want to turn those tables. My motto is that they cannot make me do it. I'll just say we haven't decided on entrees, but we're ready for the apps. If they insist, there's a chance I leave and there no way I would return. Too many other choices.

It's just a good policy. I don't care if the server has to come back for 1 minute to take my entree order, I want to control my meal time. Not a server who wants to flip tables.

Mrs. Afro has to tell me to let it go I'll pout for a few minutes and down whatever I'm drinking and talk myself in to moving on.

Same here. Some things have changed due to the "women are equal" stuff. My dad still stands up whenever a woman approaches or leaves the table. Most of the women of my generation I've asked about this say they don't like it. I still open doors for women, but that may be fading too.

I always hold open doors for women. Sometimes I'll do the standup when my girl comes and goes from the table, but not always. Not if we're at Parkway or something

Usually, it's the woman who doesn't want to be rushed. They tend to eat slower than men.

Yeah. It depends on the situation. I eat apps slow. I like to have a couple/few drinks before my entree is put down, because once I eat my entree, I'm ready to close out and get moving if we're not having dessert.

I like having a drink or two before apps and at least one before the entree.

I find that with most men, once they eat, they're of no use for the rest of the night. It's all over for them.

In regards to removing plates as people are finished .. it's a pretty simple fix: if the gentleman is done with his meal and his lady is still eating ASK him if he is finished. If he knows what he's doing he will say something to the effect of "No" or "I'm still working on it." and allow his date to finish her meal.

I agree it is uncomfortable for a woman to have to finish her meal while the man sits there with nothing in front of him.

There's also the option of not inhaling your food like a neanderthal.
