What is a widely available sausage that's not terrible with a weight watchers type plan?

Aren't weight watcher plans based of calories? If so, any sausage will work, but you have to watch the portion. But, if fat is considered, all sausage has fat. Sausage without fat is terrible, which is why there's not a market for it in groceries. You can look for turkey or chicken sausage. Most are made with dark meat and have fat, but it's generally less than pork. However, you may find the nutrition on a turkey or chicken sausage to be very close to pork and not much healthier at all.

I bought some of this when it was the only sausage on the shelf after the hurricane. The red-dyed hot dogs are better.

If you are counting calories, sausage will be a tough food to eat.

You might try grinding your own chicken and making your own sausage. Leave the fat and sugars out. The taste will be different, but it will likely be the best you can do if counting calories. IMO all sausages are high calorie because of the fat added. Most have some sort of sugar in the cure blend also.

My curiosity was tweeked and I looked some more. I see there are weight watcher's sausage products and others who claim acceptability on the WW plan out there. Try one of them. Recipes on google also, so you may be in good shape with calories and points if you stick to those products and recipes.

I went to Target as soon as they opened after Ida. The cold storage shelves were barren as far as the eye could see...except for 3 packs of plant based Beyond Sausage

Costco has a breakfast chicken sausage in the frozen section that’s good. I think 4 links are 110 calories or so and 9 grams of protein.

Yeah that’s a tough one. Sausage is one of the tastiest things we eat, but one of the worst, health wise. Cholesterol, sodium, and saturated fat, and like above poster said, some even add sugar. I like to think that deer sausage is a somewhat better alternative due to the leanness of the meat.

But a deer sausage with no fat is terrible. Hence adding pork fork.

The Trader Joe's jalapeno chicken sausage is like 100-130 calories for a link. It's what I typically use as my protein in lunch salads. They have a few other solid flavors but they all have a lot my sugar.
