Asian buffets are dying a slow merciful death, Indian food works great on a buffet, Asian turns to crap on a steam table.

Yeah, but sometimes I feel like gorging myself and being able to have a variety.

The variety is still not going to be the same as a buffett but every time I go to omi I feel like I've gorged myself. The portions are incredible. So damn legit

The chong qing spicy chicken and sesame chicken are both outstanding, and the hot and sour soup is top 2 all time for me (out of a whole lot of competition)

No mention of Hunan? Although always better to order off the menu. Plus if you are a somewhat famous (ok barely known) you can get your picture taken with the Asian Kip Holden.

I heard a rumor that the Great Wall people decided they could make more money doing a self service hibachi model and thats what Chug Du is gonna be.

I think thats bogus Great Wall chicken on a stick was to die for.

Well like I've stated in prior posts, the lone time I ordered the chong qing chicken it was very dry, so I wouldn't order it again. The hot and sour soup was good, but not nearly the best I've had.

Yea its Japanese self service hibachin model. And thats what Ive heard Great Wall is going to become.

Its actually a really smart business model cuz you end up with way less wasted product and you can offer the customer a cooked to order meal which is a buffets achilles heel.

I just dont find hibachi enjoyable. Traditional japanese cuisine asserts that you should not season meat and even americanized hibachi tastes like nothing.

Maybe bland saltless food is better than the old msg soaked fare offered at Great Wall, swear i would piss the color of old saints gold after a trip there.

I went to Great Wall since it reopened with its new name... it sucked. I preferred the old Great Wall, no matter how unsanitary it was.

Last time I went to Hunan the owner was there counting the $$. I was about to tell him I was the assistant librarian at the University of Ecuador or some shite to get my pic taken. He was very friendly, though -- gave my son some freebies and made sure our food was made properly (since I asked for some modifications).
