Can I say I've never eaten a gumbo as good as mine in a restaurant?

That's an absolutely fair and legitimate statement, but you may say whatever you want.

Do you ship? Is it seafood or poultry? Okra? Tomatoes? Do you make your own roux?

The whole question is unfair, because there will always be a restaurant that will have better equipment, better quality ingredients, and yes, even more time to pay attention to detail than you.

Possibly. But in my case it was a taste test re: chicken salad. I brought home chicken salad to Lucy from several restaurants for years.
When I made my own version she said it was much better than any restaurant version so I'm still making the stuff.

It's more labor intensive than corn bread. But the side effect is the gravy from my braising of the chicken breasts. It's dark brown and wonderful. I mix it with a little water. Put it in a tupper ware and label it "Dog".

It's the only way my old dog will eat dog food instead of people food.

He's 14. This is his last year. He will get whatever he wants.

I have had what someone called "the best damn tater-tot casserole in the world", I just wasn't sure I was the first one to eat it.

The only bad part of deer camp food is what a lot of guys call food.

I can't for the life of me make a ham sandwich that tastes just like Lea's in Lecompte even if I use their ham. Just isn't the same as theirs on those little plastic plates.

You hit the nail on the head to begin with the thread, with the first question ! What can you cook better than anyone was the question !! The answer is someone somewhere is probably better than any of us !

Here in Minnesota, it's called tator-tot hot dish. It's a staple at Lutheran church pot luck dinners.
