Any malty/roasty beer will do the trick. I made a chili for our neighborhood Cookoff with some beef short rib that I braised in Oktoberfest. Came out great!

Shiner should be fine. I use it in taco meat all the time. Gives a richer, more full-bodied flavor to the broth.

Dutch cocoa powder (1 tbsp/gal +/-) with any beer you have on hand.

I usually get a chocolate stout or a stout. To me it makes it creamy but that may just be my brain tricking me. Don’t know but it is good. Guiness is a good choice too
