I enjoyed it the time I had it but the hype oversold it. Im happy enough with local king cakes.
Surprisingly, I had an Ambrosia plain yesterday and it was phenomenal. I had given up on them years ago and pretty much only ate Calandros. I dont know if something changed but I remember them being dry. This was moist and loaded with icing. Sorta reminded me of a Manny Randazzo

i just had one recently. i wouldnt call it dry but not super moist either. i thought the icing was one of the better out there and cake flavor up there. it wasnt shipped so maybe the difference.

They are $25 for regular and $27 for filled. Stop with the hyperbole

I don't find this thing to be much better than the crap HEB sells
Now come on. It's one thing to say the Dong isn't to your liking. To say it's not much better than a texas grocery store king cake?? You are trolling now!
(And I love HEB. They do many things well. King Cake is not one of them).
1-2 days isn't enough time to make them stale, so I would not blame the shipping.
I've always found the Dong to be a little drier than others. I think it being lighter and flakier may cause that?
The Dong is good but it's not my fav and it's certainly not worth waiting in line for.
