I'm sure this has been discussed before but figured I'd start a new topic anyways. As a Georgian we don't get the luxury of having them as available as yall. I'm doing a boil Saturday and was planning on adding mushrooms garlic corn sausage and potatoes. Any other ideas? Tips tricks etc?

Let someone who knows what they are doing do the boil.

Mine is fairly simple:
I place onions, small red potatoes, and corn "cobettes" if I find them in a burlap sack and place in seasoned boiling water for about 15-20 min .. this makes taking them out easier...and softens them
then I put my crawfish to boil and place the bag back in the pot for the remaining of the time. I will sometimes will do hot and/or smoke sausage as well in the boil. All "boils" are personalized IMHO. Lemons can also be added...all personal choice. I use an 80 qt pot...much bigger is hard to handle.

Can you taste the onions much? I prefer to eat everything I'm gonna put in there. I prefer onions sautéed or grilled so not sure how I'd like em.

They're delicious. I like to quarter the potatoes and mix them in a bowl with the onions, add a little butter. Scrumptious.

30qt pot? That will be two batches for the crawfish only. 3rd batch for your veggies depending on how many you use.

Fine. That'll take two batches. Add garlic, potatoes, onions, some lemons and the seasoning when you begin to eat the water. Make sure the water is very, very spicy.
After the water boils for 5 minutes, add crawfish, mushrooms and sausage. Bring back to heat. Once you get to a simmer, count 3 minutes, cut the fire and drop in some frozen corn. Stir once or twice during the soak time. Soak 25 to 30 minutes and taste. Eat when they taste right.

NO, no, no. Don't use that rubber frozen corn. Use fresh. You can use ice to cool the water off more. Had fresh corn with boiled crawfish last night. Heavenly.

If you eat the water it's going to be super duper spicy

Why bother using corn at all?
Not a waste. It's damn fine.
If you're going to serve corn, do it right.

I'm not gonna adulterate fresh corn with crawfish boil spices.
