Went to TJ Ribs on Acadian last week. This place has gone downhill

I havent been to the place in years and I remember everyone on here saying the Seigen location was the better one, but somehow I ended up in there. I know plenty talk highly about their wings, and ive had them, but I wouldnt even put them in the top 5 in BR.
I guess the first sign of the downward spiral of this place is their advertisement banner outside stating $1 margaritas everyday. That just doesnt look good.
I got the chicken and brisket combo dinner with greens and mashed potatoes. The chicken was ok and I would be shocked if the brisket was actually smoked. Now I couldnt take a picture of the plate of food because of who I was with, but the plate looked like it was prepared by a 5 year old. The piece of chicken was kind of in the middle and the brisket was 5 long skinny strips like the ones posted in this yelp pic. The strips were all over the place. One pointed one way, one the other, one basically hanging off the plate. My plate was much bigger than this yelp pic. The brisket looked the same and picture the chicken where the ribs are but the food took up about 30% of the plate, if that. It seriously looked like a 5 year old played with my plate before I got it. How a 'chef' lets a plate go out of the kitchen like that is beyond me.
The greens were ok. The mashed potatoes and gravy I dont even think popeyes would serve them.
Now onto the main thing that stuck out. Ive never seen this done in a restaurant. The table next to us was finished their dinner and they had a good amount still left on their plates. The bus boy brought out the tub and started putting the cups in but when it came to the plates, he would take the plate and scrape all the food off onto the table. Every plate and side dish. Talking piles of meat, half chickens with bones, salads, and whatever else they had for sides just getting piled into the middle of the table. Once finished, the guy rolled up the white paper like a burrito with all the food in it and dripping out the sides and hauled it off. It was easily the size of 2 footballs. I just kind of laughed to myself but I could see people getting grossed out by this.
I cant even picture myself ever going there again.
Yelp picture of food from tj ribs. Picture that amount of food on a plate double the size.

You went to TJ Ribs and didn't get ribs?
In all seriousness, that place isn't very good. Including the ribs.

That's what I imagine Rob's plates are going to look like at Central City BBQ. #cantwait

that plate looks really good compared to mine. double the plate size and have 5 brisket strips pointed 5 different ways
waiter was cool though and kind of looked like he knows the place sucks and doesnt even need to try and make the place more than it is

I probably eat at the one on Siegen once a year for lunch and its serviceable.
Haven't been to the Acadian location in at least a dozen years.

It's pretty damn sad how piss poor the BBQ scene is in BR.

It all went downhill when Snowflake shut its window.

It is. Outback had a 30 minute wait so I suggested tj ribs as we were walking out the door because the guy i was with had to get back on the road and just wanted something real quick by I10.
Chimes is my usual suggestion for just a regular meal but I didnt want to drag him all the way through campus during the first week of school.
Oh well, lesson learned

TJ Moran is dead. What happens to a restaurant after the owner dies? Does it just cease to exist or does it just get transformed into a shite restaurant?

Funny you say that. The table behind us had steaks and the waiter went on some long spiel after they finished about how the owner used to own Ruths and that they get the same steaks as them. He mentioned that they cook them kind of the same(which is bullshite), but I guess it sounded good to the people.
The story sounded like the owner was still alive

It just might be the same steaks though. Last time I was at Ruth's Chris, it sure as shite wasn't prime grade beef. I had better steak at Ryan's.

Nut sure what to think of that, but the ribs look about the same as usual.

Didn't he sell off almost all of his stake in the restaurants some time before his death?

In BR?
Good friends of ours work there. It is definitely prime beef and is one of the only Ruth's in the country that cuts their own meat. So yea
