I misspoke when I said for a little more more money it would be considered on par with fine dining prices, so I will retract that statement.

You're focused on the amount of food for some reason. If it was trout or drum, fine, but it's catfish. I can go to Commanders Palace for lunch today and get a two course meal for $18.

I’m just saying catfish isn’t the greatest quality fish, and I would be willing to pay that amount for better a better catch of fish, but by no means should catfish be priced that high. This is just my opinion

Here is Commander's sample lunch menu:

The cheapest entree on there is $21. So explain to me how you're getting a two course meal for $18 unless those two courses are a cup of soup and a salad.

That’s original, about as good as your post on the wrong board.

Look at the two course specials. For $18 you can get a cup of turtle soup and crawfish boil fried chicken salad. Other times it has been cochon de lait, or fish or some other meat.

So a cup of soup and a salad, then. There's nothing wrong with that, in fact I think that's a great lunch.

But you're comparing a soup and a salad to 2 pieces of catfish, 4 shrimp, a side salad and a twice baked potato.

Those are two different meals.

Iowa's agreeing with you, catfish is a cheap fish. It was the other guy focused on portion size.

Are you really this thick? As I said, it is often a pork or fish dish as well. That is a sample menu and may not actually be what's available today. I've been to commanders many times over the years and that special is always present and with a variety of entrees featured.

And that's a lunch menu special which typically is a smaller portion for a cheaper price than it would normally be. I recognize that it's not entirely about portion size, but you can't tell me that doesn't play a factor.

And this guy was at Mike's for dinner, not lunch. So you're truly comparing two different meals altogether. Try going to Commander's for $18 at dinner.

But perhaps I don't know what I'm talking about, I've become extremely jaded about dining prices living where I do. It's much higher here than back home in Louisiana. $17 would be the price of a burger at most places for lunch, so catfish and shrimp for $17 sounds like a good price to me.

I wasn't claiming I eat at fancy places, just that prices for things are absurd.

I was just being my usual dick self and I agree, food prices just about anywhere are crazy anymore, and I'm probably like you in that I just don't pay much attention anymore, if I want something I just get it and move on

I'm not worried about portion size, rather quality for the dollar and two pieces of cheap arse catfish and four regularly fried shrimp for $17 from a trough like Anderson's is a poor deal.

Ok but you're still comparing a LUNCH special at Commander's to the DINNER this guy had at Mike's.

Lunch is meant to be cheaper.

If I go somewhere I am aware of the prices and I am not going to complain if something is a little more expensive than I might assume, but I will say that $34.00 for a seafood platter is a little pricey. I went to Pat's in Henderson a few weekends ago and I want to say the seafood platter there was $22.00 and you probably get a little more at Pat's than you do at Mike Anderson's.

I don't know about you, but I get 3 meals out of their seafood platter. Lunch for two more days. How much food do they give you at Pat's? You must need a wheelbarrow to get to the car after eating there.
