TL/DR version - would anyone share an easy, tasty wheat flour tortilla recipe? Please?

That is pretty much it. I've googled and stuff but I would trust more people on this board to have a quick and decent recipe.

From my post on our AU board:

Sorry, OT Thread re: making tortillas.Simple recipes? Please feel free to skip this thread Posted on 10/23/21 at 5:03 am

I'm just looking for a little help or advice for making / freezing flour tortillas.

I have googled, but I trust a few decent cooks on this board and appreciate the help. I can very rarely get corn meal or corn flour here,so mostly wheat flour tortillas for wraps, quesadillas, simply baked as chips with salsa, sour cream, etc. Simple crispy pizza or cheese toast, whatever.

)Sorry again and many thanks in advance. War Eagle.

- Flour tortillas are expensive here, freezer burnt and iced over and small, when and where I can find them. I'd much much rather make them myself or with a friend or two. Either make and freeze uncooked, or cook and freeze, or make from scratch always (I would rather not do this, unless it makes some huge difference). My basil is also at its peak so I was also thinking about mixing basil to make basil tortillas. Any and all advice about preserving great, fresh basil is also very welcome. I am drying some and will make some garlic / basil butter sauce & other stuff. War Eagle.

BTW I have cooked all of my life and just this year have passed the half way mark of my time in Japan. I am 51, Technically / legal wife but separated for three+ years..

Any questions about Japanese food or drink or anything in general, please ask. My parents met in Austin Peay's marching band, Dad went on to Grad School at Vandy and I was born and raised in Auburn until I moved to Japan in '94. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!

Welcome. I think there are a few on here that have shared tortilla recipes in the past. I've never made them so I'm not much help.

If you have any legit recipes for some of your favorite Japanese food, please share.

I'm a big fan of the King Arthur recipe. I like to mix lard and butter as my fats.

I have to take you up on this. I've been trying to replicate the (very simple) Miyabi soup that is served before dinner at pretty much every Japanese restaurant over here. My kids love that stuff. What is the correct beef broth:chicken broth ratio to use as the base?

I know we have several posters that will be able to help with the homemade tortillas.

It is hard to beat homemade tortillas but these take and bake ones are the best you can do in a store. I doubt you can find them in Japan

Thank you and War Eagle. No shortening (like Crisco) I have seen yet but lard iss readily available. Baking powder or soda or aany equivalent is incredibly hardd to find. Like Ranch dressing mix.

I love my Mom.

Thank you! I make it to Costco or Tokyo every now and then. Will keep antennae in tune. Arigatou!

Take it with a grain of salt or dash of shoyuu (that means soy sauce for us dumb people), but I rarely post on any board here when sober. Just a heads up. I mean well. As I posted earlier, I'd love to share some nice, easy to do Japanese food for anyone interested. If any admins would like to pin a thread on Japanese food / cooking, for 2 to 3 weeks, I will be happy to add what I can. War Eagle.

Honestly I don't have any idea what Miyabi soup is. I've never heard of it but will check around.

Not Miso soup? I reckon not. It is on the list of things to learn, and learn to cook if it is worth it Miyabi soup?). I'd like advise everyone to learn about miso, if you don't. Good night from here and I hope everyone has a nice day today. War Eagle.
