the only thing that is really out of whack on that is the cost of the beer and the $1.99 upcharge for sweet potato over regular fries

That's the only thing out of whack? You think paying $64 bucks before tip for cheese fries, 2 sandwiches, 2 beers and a crown & coke is worth it?

See, I went there for the LSU-Alabama game in 2009 with a friend. (I was picking up the tab because it was his birthday) We had an app order of onion rings, burgers and a few pitchers of Miller Lite. The bill was $50-$60, which I thought was pretty good considering we ate and drank for 3-4 hours.

So you got a Shrimp wrap w/ fries, a buffalo sandwich w/fries, 2 pints of a microbrew, a double crown, and large cheese fries for $64 and you are complaining? That actually seems on the lowside

Exactly what I was saying.

$10 for large cheese fries is stupid. And I know other places charge similar prices, but dayum.

Dempseys is $5.99 for regular, $6.99 for jalapeno. Both are massive.

Sammy's is $5.25 for small, $6.95 for large.

WalkOns charges for a small what Sammy's and Dempsey's do for a large.

Then the beer. $6 for Nola Blonde? For Canebrake? Anything besides BMC is $6+ at WalkOns. Even Bulldog, which caters to an older/wealthier crowd than a college bar, has plenty of $5 beers. Hell, they keep a few $5 IPAs on draft at all times.

$14.50 for a Crown drink..

Bulldog's double top shelf (Ketel, Goose, Hendricks) is $9.50-$10.

Where can you go that that kind of food and booze doesn't cost that? the beers are at most $1 more expensive than at Bulldog, maybe.

Double crown is going to cost between $11 to $17 just about anywhere. I forget what was decided about that rocks charge, so I'll say it's BS here.

And the food costs are in line with most other places. So what exactly is nuts about it?

if you look at the prices individually, then yes.

$10 burger
$10 sandwich
$10 cheese fries
$6 beer
$6 beer
$14 double crown

Their whisky prices for double are not that cheap. Like not even close. Maybe BR location is cheaper than any of the NOLA ones, but you aren't getting a double anything for under $10.

question:

If I ordered a single crown on the rocks, would the rocks upcharge be $0.50 or $1?

Food: Just looking at the Cheese Fries (because the sandwiches are normally priced)... Dempsey's, Sammy's, maybe Chimes? (their PDF menu is down), Chelseas.

None of them charge more than $7.

I don't order liquor. But Bulldog is up with some of the more expensive bars in BR, and all top shelf doubles are $10.. MAYBE $11. I know because I worked there less than a year ago.

Double Goose or Ketel was definitely $9.50-$10.50.

Crown was $10.

Not $14.

depends on the bar, but I'm sure it will be $1 at walkons.

If the bar/restaurant actually has a "rocks upcharge" button then they are giving you a heavy pour, not your standard 1.5 oz for a mixed drink.

I will say the portion size of the large cheese fries was obscene, so there was plenty for a table of 8.

I really haven't priced what cheese fries are elsewhere, other than the Chimes, and it doesn't seem out of line. But isn't liquor and appetizers where restaurants make their money anyway?

I can go to Parkway and get a similar amount of food that both tastes better and costs significantly less. Portion size is probably larger as well.

#1 Hangover Burger or Hickory Cheddar Burger

#2 Buffalo Chicken Sandwich

I usually get one or the other. And like them both.

I tried to find the price of cheese fries at Outback and Pluckers for comparison but their menus don't show prices online.

Question:

Why not use less ice instead of more booze?

You think Walk-On's is the type of place that is liberal with their pours? I'd be willing to bet the bartenders are required to use jiggers on every drink. Fits their stale, homogenized corporate atmosphere.
