Spleen or anyone else been yet? I told the wife we were going this weekend to watch a game or two and check it out. Hoping it delivers on the sports bar experience. I really want a good one in Bham.

Nah, haven't been yet. We drove by there around lunchtime this past Saturday, but the line was out the door so we went somewhere else.

Friends went and they said to give it a few more weeks. They had some service issues, which is to be expected at a new restaurant. They said the food was fine, but they waited 45 minutes for a table and said it wasn't 45-minute wait quality food. They're kind of snobby foodies though.

Walk Ons is above average sports bar food with some unique menu items. It's not meant to be fine dining or anything. It's a cool place to grab a poboy and a few beers. I've never understood the hate that it sometimes gets on here.

Damn it.

They've been open three weeks now.

My wife and I are food people, but still appreciate things like good burgers and fries. I just need a place to get some good football food and beer that isn't Buffalo Wild Wings or On Tap.

Walk-On’s most definitely is not 45 minute wait worthy food. Few places are, imo

They went for dinner one night late last week. I think Thursday. They didn't really expound on the experience, just said there were a few service issues that should be worked out as they iron out the kinks and the newness wears off.

My friends are the same way. Didn't mean to imply they were above bar food, just that they're not the type to wait that long for a table to eat bar food. And honestly, I wouldn't either.

The new one is about 10 minutes from my house, hopefully the rush calms down soon.

We went yesterday for lunch. Got there just after 11, so no wait. By the time we left around 12:45, lots of people waiting for a table.

Overall, it was pretty meh. The cheese fries app was my favorite thing we ordered. My burger was fine, but nothing special. Wife’s boom boom shrimp tacos were okay, though I only had one small bite. Service was actually really good, so not sure what hiccups my friends had. Great beer list, and plenty of TV’s. It did get kind of loud though once NFL games kicked off, but it’s a sports bar so no big deal.

We’ll go again since it’s so close to the house. If it wasn’t so close, doubt we would unless we were close by doing other stuff.

if you want a sandwich, get the ribeye po-boy. If you want a plate meal get the tuscan chicken.

Here now. Came at 3PM to watch Auburn play State. I dint think it’d be too bad getting here at 3PM. It’s a zoo. 40+ min wait. Luckily, the bar had a seat for the wife and I. Got Boom Boom shrimp and fried mozzarella apps. Will advise on dinner.

PS: The waitress talent is good. Especially if you’re looking for the slutty looking black girls.

I had the Tuscan Chicken which was OK. It had an overly pronounced flavor that I didn’t like. I couldn’t tell if it was olives or capers.

Wife had the Lemon Butter Chicken which she loved. Beers are cold. Plenty of TVs. Loud like the previous poster said. Definitely will come back, but only if there was a game I wanted to watch. There’s too many good places in Cahaba Heights to eat to come here just for food.

Best sports bar in Bham easily.

Waiting 45 minutes to eat at walk-ons is insanity

It’s definitely a step above BWW, their tap list is decent, too.

ETA: it’s definitely a sports bar, not a place to go if you just want to eat, but IMO there’s nothing wrong with that.

Agreed. If we hadn’t found seats at the bar, I wouldn’t have waited.

Walkon’s will print money with this location. There is nothing to eat/drink from 119 all the way to Alex City. Nothing.

We went again yesterday because some friends hadn't been. We put our name on the list(40 minute wait) then ran over to Publix to pick up a few things. They texted us as we were pulling into a parking spot so that worked out well. This was at 2 in the afternoon and there was an hour wait when we left around 3:30. Insane, because...

I had the Buffalo Chicken Wrap, which was pretty terrible. Shredded chicken doused in so much buffalo sauce, the sauce is all you taste in every bite. Wife had some grilled chicken club with avacado or something. Chicken was dry and overly salted. Friends both had a burger, but I forget which ones. They said they were fine.

Based on 2 visits, my threshold to wait for a table there is about 5 minutes. Good place to catch a Saturday afternoon basketball game at the bar though, if there's a seat available when you get there. It was packed yesterday because of the NFL games.
