I ordered a cream cheese King cake from Dong Phuong that will be shipped later this month. I've tried most of the king cakes on these lists, but never one from them. Shipping was pretty expensive... Am I going to be happy?

It's different but very good. It's just not a traditional king cake.

I respect tradition, but when it comes to food, I mostly want it to taste good.

OP, I guess I'll wait to vote until later this month.

Absolutely! Dong Phuong makes a delicious king cake. It's not your traditional cake, but it's very tasty!

Is that your website?

We do a king cake throwdown every year, and I think I'm going to add the "view bakeries" list to our event page to give people suggestions for where to get one from.

Just wait til the folks on here get really upset that you spent that much on a cinnamon roll.

I got a DP for the first time last year and it was awesome. Ordered another one this year too. Getting it monday after next.

Jeff at La Petite Sophie in River Ridge is doing a brioche cake with candied sour cherries, candied lemon/orange peel, candied Angelica, and a satsuma glaze.

Or the idiots that get mad when someone likes a doughnut king cake. God forbid!

Anyone sell the old style Mckenzie's king cake that is more brioche with sugar topping and less cinnamon roll?

Not my website, just a cool contest I heard about last year via social media. Thought I'd share with everyone since Carnival season is here!

The site does have a pretty extensive list of bakeries, it's a great resource to discover a new king cake to try.

I don’t think it’s that different. It’s a “croissant style” cake with a whipped cream cheese frosting

To me it’s the GOAT but I am yet to try a Caluda cake which I will this year

DP markets it as “brioche” style. It’s light but still has some “pull”

They got a new coconut flavor this year that’s pretty good
