Want to buy one for storage and sous-vide. For those who own one, which would you recommend and why.
Thanks in advance

If you’re an Amazon Prime member, Id wait until Prime day which is in a couple days. Those are the types of things that they usually heavily discount. I haven’t had mine long enough to really form an opinion.

This, if you have the budget for it.

Foodsaver has sealed many a food item for me. Works fine.

What does a vacmaster do 10+ times better than a food saver? Or am I looking at the wrong one on amazon?

Better quality, last longer, removes more air.

The question did not have anything about budget. Provided what was the best of what I needed when I purchased mine with all the homework and research I did. I never seem to have good luck with residential equipment. When I step up to commercial or the entry level commercial it last a lifetime. My experiences.

You must have really shitty luck cause you could buy 15 of the food savers.

Several guys at work have the $300 Cabelas commercial one and love them.
I've had a food saver for 4 years now. It works, but the gaskets have been going out frequently and I'm finding the bags don't always vaccum properly as of late. Probably going to upgrade at Christmas time.

I wont comment too much on brand, cause there are lots to choose from.
But I will say get one with the ability to just seal without vaccuming. That way you can buy a whole roll and cut bags to the length you want.
And... get one with the ability to pulse vaccum instead of full on suck and autoseal. You dont always wanna suck the life out of shite. For instance breads, or like today we went kayaking and we made sandwiches that I vac sealed so they would be sure to stay dry.
I will say mine has worked great so far for about two years now and it was actually a cheaper model. It's a crenova. I use it all the time too.
Eta: looks like its selling for around 30 bucks these days. Was about 70 when I got it I think.

Also, unless you get a really pricey one you are gonna have issues dealing with anything that's juicy at all. (Marinaded meats, soups, etc) trick is to put them in the bag. Let them them freeze with the bag open so they dont spill. Then seal after frozen.
I buy a decent amount of meat in bulk and dont have too much issue with it as long as I make the bag a bit bigger than you'd expect it needs to be or pat it dry. But if you want to vac seal anything really juicy at all you are gonna have issues.

Any reputable brand of chamber vac. Chamber vacs can seal bags of liquids. They are more expensive, but worth it.

I have a pretty basic Food Master from Sams that is my second one in about 10 years+/-. They have always done exactly what I need. All I have bought are bags and replacement seals. I use mine mostly for seafood, fresh and boiled, soups and sometimes meats if I find a huge sale but not often. We love Royal Reds and will bring home 30lbs or so from Joe Pattis along with other stuff and all stay good for over a year. I know that because one package always gets pushed to the back of the freezer and becomes a great find when it shows up.
