Urban South Brewery Supporting Gun Control Lobby

Don’t know if this was posted. Apparently Urban South is going to donate some proceeds to Mom Demand Action.

I’m sure lots of brewery owners and such are left-leaning, but just sort of surprising they’d actively put their business out there like this. NOLA is very blue, but Louisiana is very red on the issue of gun rights.

This will be fun after the thread last week on supporting businesses with different political opinions.

And?
Are they a brewery? Do They make good beer?
That's all i need to know really
Do you watch movies or listen to music. If so you are most likely supporting a product produced by the far left... Same thing basically

In general or in certain cities? That’s rather a broad assumption.

And...some people may stop buying their beer because of this showing of public support on the gun control issue, and some will buy more. Others won’t care.
One of the Bayou Teche owners took some heat amongst some craft beer circles a while back for making a statement that on NFL players protesting the national anthem.

So we are talking about Urban South donating a $1 for each beer sold?
It's on their event rental page that they "can offer $1 back per beer purchased during your event." LINK /
If there are any right-wing groups willing to be that close to Walmart and River Garden after sunset then they can have a fundraiser too.

I don't care if they are left leaning but if proceeds from the purchases I make go to support the removal of my rights than I'll buy my beer somewhere else.

Response:
Jacob Landry Hi all, though it would be appropriate for me to chime in. For the record, we have about 10 events per week at the brewery. This one in particular was organized by a group of moms who live in New Orleans who are concerned about gun violence in their city. Some folks have told us that beer and politics shouldn't mix. I wholeheartedly disagree. What is a better way to discuss differing views than over beer? We will not shy away from fostering dialogue - breweries, bars, backyards are way better places for that than Facebook. We donated $29,000 to charity last year, and are already at $15,000 this year. That money has gone to 150+ different groups. If we worried about offending folks with every event we hosted or dollar we donated, we wouldn't be the generous, community-minded company we strive to be. If you want to dialogue, come and dialogue, but we should all be learning that arguments on Facebook never solved any real challenges.

If the moms stop breeding with these dead beat dads the gun violence would drop in our city.

I get that. I'll have to ask before I order what my money is going to support.

Non-event situation most of the net revenue has been going back into the brewery per their 2 year anniversary blog post.

pretty certain they only do these for charity type events
so don't go to charity event that you don't support
seems like an easy solution

It's pretty clear that the event is at the brewery so unless you go there during the event, you shouldn't have any problems.

Urban South would like to offer $1 of each beer sale during the event as a donation NOLA Moms Demand Action!!

Urban South hosts and donates money to a myriad of groups. This is way overblown by people who just want something to bitch about.

Cool, thanks for figuring that out for me.
Wonder if they will do a fundraiser for the group that wants to put General Lee back up at Lee Circle ?
