Three Local Breweries Hosting Anniversary Parties

Urban South turns 2 on March 31 and that taplist looks like fire. They collab'd with Whole Foods Houston on these two beers

Frieze Milkshake IPA collaboration with Whole Foods Market Brewing Co. Houston, TX
Strawberry Mango Milkshake IPA collaboration with Whole Foods Market Brewing Co. Houston, TX

They also have a Triple IPA brewed with Aslin Beer Co called Tranquil Dawn Triple IPA. All 4 Architect Series will be on tap as well as 3 different Gose styles including the popular Lime Cucumber Gose. They'll also have a Strawberry Watermelon Mint Gose and a Blueberry Lemon Gose

NOLA meanwhile is releasing a new IPA series at their Nine Years of Beer party with a similar formula as their 00 series. We interviewed Derek Lintern, NOLA's Director of Funk:

quote:

"Now we're starting a new series where we're doing a bunch of different hoppy sixteen-ounce cans, this is the first one here, it's called Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. We did an Imperial IPA, we added pineapple juice, lactose, and vanilla, and we let that age for a few weeks on that vanilla to get some really nice characteristics. But it's really juicy, sweet, fruity, tropical, those lactose IPAs that are kind of popular, some people call them shakes. We could've gone with Pineapple Upside-Down Shake."

This will be released at their Nine Years of Beer party this Saturday. Also being released is the Bienville TricentinniAle which has been aging for 3 years. This was actually the first beer ever to be brewed in the Funk room.

Also, Robert Randolph and The Family Band will be jamming out. See yall there...who's coming?

That seems like an incredible lineup from Urban South. Would love to try the NOLA IPA as well.

I noticed Jacob Landry on FB stated Urban South was going to age some Lime Cucumber Gose in Tequila barrels, as a special release.
