found the problem
Tsunami’s founders sold the business to its current ownership group in 2021. The brand is now under the ownership of Baton Rouge restaurateur Chad Hughes, Sarwat Gad and Connie Hargrove, per local media reports.

Damn, I completely missed that Hughes was part of it.
The Advocate has this:
quote:
The bankruptcy petition was filed in the Middle District of Louisiana a day before a civil lawsuit involving the owners was scheduled to go to trial.
Hughes, a Baton Rouge restaurant operator, sued Hargrave, who lives in Lafayette, and Gad, who lives in Broussard, about 15 months ago, accusing them of conspiring with Hargrave’s son, Brandon Hargrave, to terminate Hughes’ interest in the business. Gad is married to Connie Hargrave's daughter, according to court filings.
In the lawsuit, Hughes claimed Hargrave stopped paying rent to Hausu 412 LLC, the entity that owns the Tsunami building at 412 Jefferson St. in downtown Lafayette. He also alleged Gad emptied a bank account connected to Lit Parking, which operates the nearby parking lot at Garfield and Buchanan streets.
Hughes said he received a letter from an attorney in March 2024 instructing him to stop participating in meetings or contacting management, according to court filings.
I wonder if they figured out that Hughes is a known swindler and were trying to cut him off.

Hargrave and Hughes are both fricking idiots, neither are on the up and up

Haven't been there in years when I sat at the bar and listened to the foul mouthed Chef with his energy drink sitting right on the same cutting board where he was slicing raw fish.

We need a running list of the enterprises this guy has touched and fricked up.

Wasn’t he just in the news for writing a hot check for like $20,000.00?

People can add others that I missed:
Happy's (x2), Boudreaux & Thibodeaux, Bengal Tap Room, City Bar BR, Kalurah Street Grill, The Register Bar, Rio Tacos and Tequila on Third, Var's Pizza
Still open: part of Ivar's and apparently a stake in Tsunami.
The River Room and Cecelia Creole Bistro are still open. He was involved in that with Brad Watts (along with Kalurah). Not sure if he is still part of their group or not.
