Tree Frogs and Peach Cobbler

We live in a Garden Home with a lake on the common land behind the rear courtyard of our house. For whatever reason the Tree Frogs have taken up our back courtyard as a refuge, with one frog at a time living in the Wandering Jew Plant hanging on a shepherd's hook in the flower bed, or in the potted plants the wife has on my Bonsai deck. They are ok until dark and then they "peep" out so loud we can't stay in the den.
What's a guy to do?
Well, I have become a master catcher of frogs - I think eleven so far this year. I have recorded the calls on my iPhone and when they start peeping I go out and play the calls back to them. So far, their presence has been limited to only one at a time on the deck or flower bed. They think the iPhone recording is another frog and they will peep back at it as long as I want to play it. Outside, their peeps are loud enough to hurt my ears - makes it pretty easy to locate them.
I hand grabbed the first two or three off of the wood fence separating our courtyard from the common area and the pond, which is full of their friends and relatives.
What do I do with a trapped frog? I take them a quarter mile down the street to the big pond in our neighborhood and release them.
After a few days of hand grabbing, I switched to a glass pint jelly jar, which they don't see coming and will sit there peeping until I place the open jar over them to complete the catch.
Here are a few I have caught
Kevin
Doug
Paul
Billy
There are others, but you get the idea. I am not yet a famous catcher of frog, but in my mind I have great talent.
Tonight, I caught and released Billy. Then I had a nice serving of Peach Cobbler to celebrate my eleventh successful catch and release.
If anyone is looking for a nice, somewhat noisy amphibian pet, I can fix you up. If anything like it has been going, the next frog will make his way to our courtyard in a couple or three days. Just let me know.

Glad to see you back posting MD
In my last home, I had the same situation, but I enjoyed watching and hearing the frogs. We had a creek in the backyard and a wall of windows without shades/curtains. At nightfall the lights in the house would attract bugs to the windows. The smart frogs would position themselves on the windows and hunt the bugs.
Every now and then, I would get to see the frogs shoot out their tongues to catch the bugs. It impressed me how much reach their tongues had. I had the most well nourished frogs in the area.
Sorry, no pics.

When I release them at the big lake, they always cry out, "Please - I don't want to be a pond frog I am happy being a flowerbed frog!"
Noisy little guys.
Noisy little guys.

I have extremely tiny chirping frogs around my porch. Love those little guys

Those are some nice frogs. Good on you for having good humor and releasing them. Amphibians are disappearing at an alarming rate.
Cobbler looks fire as well.

You could have had a 22 mini fried frog leg appetizer

I figure they weren't doing anything death sentence worthy, just asking for frog sex.
Hopefully they found it (frog sex) down in the big pond. I did let one go in the waterfall at the subdivision entrance. He probably felt like he had received special treatment.
Yes, the cobbler was good.

Should have fried up some frog legs.

I’ve realized I sleep better with them chirping than without. Also, they help with the mosquitos.

Sadly, from tree frogs, they would have been pretty small - like hummingbird breasts.
I am not sure you can eat a tree frog. down in the jungle, they use them (the more colorful varieties) to make poison dart poison.
Regardless, they are so cute, I'm not certain I could skin them. Also they pee on you the moment you get them in your hands. They can pee a lot for little guys.

Some members of this board have a greater appreciation than I do for the sound of frogs, which I refer to as the "frog cacophony." Drives me nuts.
Peach cobbler looks damn good, however!

From a distance they sound fine. From 20 feet, when they are in a sexual frenzy, they can get irritating.
The peach cobbler was good. It was sugar free because the wife (MHNBPF) had used u all of our sugar making fig compote (diced figs, orange zest orange oil, pear, pecans, sugar, & top secret crack like stuff that makes me want to eat the entire jar on a toasted and buttered English muffin)
edited to add:
"Frog cacophony"
Ooooh Darla - you go girl!
