I’ve been doing some research on pellet grills/smokers, and I’ve seen plenty of hate on Traegers. A lot of people are going with different brands such as GMG and Yoder. What’s the deal with the Traeger brand?

You will spend around .25 cents more per cook on pellets due to the slightly thinner metal.

ROI on a yoder should be about 1500 cooking sessions.

Good luck

The newer models have improved the ability to sear but you're going to pay a little more for it.

Is that the high and slow model? It has revolutionized the ashy rib movement.

I'm a product tester before they hit the shelves and give feedback. I can't reveal too much, part of the agreement.

I have a Camp Chef with the sear box on the side, which is propane fueled. Absolutely love it

OMG this looked like my grill the other day. I had some questionable ground beef from the store that said 75/25 but in reality it was more like 50/50. I put out burgers and within the time it took for me to wash my hands, the whole thing was engulfed. Damn near burned my eaves of the house.

That was my first ever flame I've seen on my pellet grill.

To the op, Trager had pretty much the market when it came to pellet grills. Their quality was ok back when they were one of the only grills on the market. However many... MANY have come on the market with better controllers AND a more solid construction. They were slow and resistant to upgrade to match the new market. Therefore all they really have now is their name. There are at least 5-10 other makers that make a better grill now at around the same price point and some that do it better for cheaper.

Built as cheaply as possible, rust out quickly, shite controller, and dont hold heat well.

If you have an old USA made Trager they were pretty good machines but once they sold out and production got moved to China they went to shite.

They are good but the other ones are similar, and less money unless you go to the real quality pellet smokers.

If you are looking I would suggest you find a brand that can get in the 600 degree plus range.

That fairway looks like shite.

ETA: Deck could use some work as well.
