I missed the episode last night but couldn't resist look at the thread.
Glad Michael is toast. Now he can prep for his true calling, guest on "Pickup Artist".
Who is Lea Michelle?
ETA:
I agree with the sentiment that a vegan meal with a "spooky" twist is asinine. That's my pet peeve with many of these cooking shows. It's only moderately interested in determining who is the best chef.

Here's an article I just found for those who haven't read it.
LINK
I agree with him about the risotto or anything else. He likes his and others also like it. Personal preferences coming into play on these shows can result in a good chef being booted, certainly.
I have a hard time believing he hasn't watched all the episodes start to finish or that every response he's gotten has been favorable. Of course, not many folks are going to call him out to his face. I didn't think he represented New Orleans all that well, but that's just my opinion.

Ugh...that interview makes me like him even less. I mean:
Seriously? I wish they would have focused more on the fact that he is from New York, not New Orleans.

New Orleans has been so supportive, so happy to see my face on TV or see me in public, because they can now touch a celebrity chef, you know, and say hello.

There's a little pomposity coming through in that interview.
I can't recall if the article says when the interview took place. I'd like to see the unedited version.

I just can't get much into Top Chef. They make it too much like the Real World. I don't care about some random chef dealing with coming out as gay. Just focus on the food.
But of course... it's a Bravo production.

For every episode filmed they get about 6 hours of footage per chef. Up to half of that can be interviews. If I followed you around for 6 hours a day and filmed everything you said, I bet I could paint you any way I want. Which isnt to say Sichel isn't a douche, just that he was very much painted with that brush in an effort to advance a storyline.
And anyone who has worked in a kitchen or restaurant, knows nicknames, busting chops, and other tomfoolery is pretty much damn near the norm. Film it and show it to a public in a tidy 48 minute TV show and, well its amazing any one would like any of these Top Chefs.

Ditto.
That was 5-10 paragraphs of self congratulations.

This guy can't help himself, or we have to add Dave Walker to the list of creative editors.
I think this guy was praying to hit it big and become some mega Celebrity chef. He seems far less interested in talking about his food.

I agree with this to a certain extent, but not with the interviews as much. They can ask leading questions and catch folks off guard as if they're just having a conversation rather than interviewing for show material, but the interviewee still has to provide the fodder to be used.
The nicknames were annoying, but people do that all the time. Bothers some folks and not others. In a competitive situation, I think I could manage to act more professionally especially while being filmed, BUT nerves can get to you. People react differently when nervous and under pressure and it's not always in a good way. The problem with him was that he was cocky and his dishes weren't that great.
I'll give him something, though. He was in his now home town and I think he was excited about that and very "optimistic" about his talents and that situation. I can see how he might be a little cocky just based on that, but Justin hasn't been or they sure haven't shown it. You'd think they would if both Nola chefs were jerks. I also don't think he was a jerk 100% of the time, but it sure stood out when he was. The "I got laid" thing was really stupid of him.
Oh, well, he's gone now and that's a good thing for him and Nola, in my opinion. I was embarrassed by him and the fact that he's the chef at Galatoire's. Made me cringe.

Re Galatoire's; have only gone once since he was installed, but found the food to be slightly better than previous visits. But that could also owe to having a new owner.
Posted on 10/31/13 at 1:45 pm to BlackenedOut
I've been since he was there, but I didn't notice a difference. It was as good as always. I love Galatoire's for a typical old New Orleans meal and I enjoy the atmosphere that goes with it. I won't look at the restaurant differently. I've never had any specials he's prepared there if there are any. I stick to the dishes I like there already as that's why I go.

i dont even think he means to be like that. HE just seems kind of loopy. And probably why he didnt last too long. His attention to detail was weak
its not like he was arrogrant or douchey or anything. I just dont think he knew any better

You and me both.
Judging by what I've heard, the biggest hurdle on Top Chef was mental exhaustion. That is chefs are used to 12-16 hours day, but not when the majority of that day is spent waiting around and wondering how 4 people liked their dish. Or wondering what challenge is next. Sichel's interview shows that where he says, his "dish just kind of got away from him." Even though some of the challenges are contrived more than the spin on ACA, it is a hard and strenuous competition.

No question about that. I can't imagine doing it.
And, give me a lunch at Bon Ton every once in a while also. A cup of crawfish bisque makes my world a better place.

Enjoyed this episode with Besh. Justin in the top 3 again. Don't think Michael was missed.
The farm was beautiful.

This seemed like the biggest challenges yet. The cream cheese angle was stupid I thought. Just a dumb arse product plot.
Loved the creole tomato in the quickfire. The three in the final tonight are probably the best three and will all be in the final.
I thought bene got the shaft tonight. His may not have been good but the other two served raw meat. I loathe both travis and Sara. Sara is probably the most obnoxious chef left. She wants to talk about how talented she is, but she constantly fricks up. Then degrades herself the entire time. Travis is just an arrogant little shite. He never can take criticism. That's two times Sara and Travis should be gone.

I thought Travis should have gone home tonight. Nina must really be talented in multiple ways. She's on top all the time except when she was stuck with Michael.

Can people visit and buy direct from that farm or do they only supply restaurants?

This one is interesting.
My thought about Nina is she must be a taskmaster? She won with a stuffed squash blossom?
It sounds delicious but not the most difficult dish.
I never find her offering to look the best but she keeps winning.
I think Bene lost because he ruined the "start" of the meal, the fresh veggies.
I agree with others that subpar veggies is better then raw protein.
