That was Hubert's troll attempt at the F&D board.
I think a top 2 or so has distanced themselves from the rest of the pack. Nina, Carlos, Mike(this winner)?
Did anyone recognize the "celebrity"? I've never heard of him. Not sure a guy talking about potted meat that often should be a guest judge for a cooking competition.

He was the other rapper in 8 Mile, right?
Here is something interesting. Its a nice psychology experiment. The dude cops to eating potted meat. But he also said he wanted more gravy from Justin. And now 10 million people or however many watched it are all in agreement that Justin's dish needed more gravy.

You make a good point. If he makes that coment on this board he would be burned at the stake and any future opinions would be instantly dismissed.
I'm not sure I got a good look at Justin's dish. Tough to say but other judges seemed to share that opinion.

eh, it was a fun moment about a guilty pleasure from his childhood.
I thought he was one of the best guest celebs they've ever had. Genuine.

The rest of the judges agreed.

We've reached the point of Top Chef where people go home for very minor mistakes (normally). The show editing is what is so fascinating. Think about it like this, we have no idea what was said before or after "I wanted more sauce." Or conversely when they were praising the winning dishes, what lingering buts were out there.
All in all, its been a fairly good season and I think they've done a pretty good job showcasing New Orleans' rich and varied culinary history, save for the first episode and its alligator beads.

Point isnt that the rest of the judges agreed. Its that the viewing public agrees. A viewing public that was neither present nor tasted the dish. Not saying anyone is right or wrong, but it is sort of strange that one's viewpoint of food (meant to be eaten) is colored by pictures on tv and comments.

Gotcha. I thought you meant it was based on just the potted meat guy.
BTW, I love potted meat on crackers outdoors fishing.

I thought that it needed more gravy when I saw the picture of it, but I'm an admitted gravy fanatic and have said here that rice 'n gravy is more like a bowl of gravy with rice in it, for my taste. I could see a pile of shredded looking chicken on the top and it appeared that whatever gravy or juice there was had gone down into the rice, but there was no gravy on the sides of the bowl.
I believe there was a comment about the dish having sat for a while which may have resulted in the rice soaking up the gravy and that's not a good thing either, so timing might have caused the issue.
What surprised me more was the comment about it not having a lot of flavor. It would surprise me that he would make a dish without much flavor especially a gravy dish. Seemed strange. The color was certainly rich.

One more thing:
For the coffee challenge, I was a little disappointed they didn't use a good local company, even Community, but I understand the $$ drove the deal.

I laughed at the commercial for Duncan Donuts that Padma (is that her name?) did before the Quick Challenge started. It was like she was reading from Duncan Donut Queue Cards posted just off camera.

She was reading off a Queue card. It was Philadelphia Cream Cheese the episode before that.

Saw that one too. Both week's lead-ins were pitifully commercial and painfully marketing driven.

I'm sure Padma, Tom and all the chef's strongly endorse and eat the frozen Top Chef Healthy Choice too.

My prediction for the finals thus far...
Brian
Shirly
Nina
Could sneak in...
Carlos
Carrie
Nicholas
Next to go...
Stephanie
Justin
A few weeks ago I thought Justin would last longer than Nicholas but the past few shows Nick's stock has been rising but Justin has fallen waaay down.

It would be gold if there is a Les Miles quick fire or he is the guest judge...

I have a want to try each food accordingly.
