Nini Nguyen was one of the last taken. She may get overlooked because she is quiet, but she was a damned strong and creative competitor in her season. She mentioned that she wants to open a restaurant in New Orleans, so she is also brave or crazy.

She's originally from N.O. She had a strong run on the Kentucky season and was near the top every episode. I think she is a strong darkhorse because she has a background as pastry chef which will serve her well when they ultimately have to make a dessert.

I forgot just how much I enjoy Gregory. I would be totally okay with him winning.

I was shocked by how poorly Leanne did, she's a super strong chef. She used to work on the production side of the show, so I wonder if that's why they didn't eliminate her first. I like her but she deserved to go home for that fish.

She got the benefit of having the mustache guy trying too hard to shoe horn in pasta and bread when there was no chance of a good final product.

Joe's glue pizza got him sent home, but I thought Lee Anne's scorched halibut looked worse. I also wanted Lee Anne kicked off so I don't have to see her damned baby pics every week.

I thought Lee Anne was doomed too, but was glad to see that hipster douchenozzle get sent home so I don't have to look at him. I would have loved it if Padma or Tom told Joe he was really going home for his stupid hipster moustache.

Did Angelo's pronunciation of turmeric drive anyone else crazy?

How to pronounce turmeric

His pronunciation of turmeric and the touching of his heart after every third word to the judges...I fricking hate that guy.

I root against anyone with a special needs child, spouse with a problem pregnancy, or ailing grandmother. Don’t want to hear it over and over every week.

It’s Top Chef, not Top Tearjerker.

I added the Bravo app on Firestick and watched Last Chance Kitchen. Seafood challenge between the first two losers. I won’t spoil it.

I love Kevin so much, but I really hope they focus on his food and not the cancer arc.

I hate that he's had that struggle, and I understand introducing it to those who maybe aren't familiar with the fact that he's been sick, but I don't want it to be a recurring theme. He's too talented in his own right to let that define him.

Also a douchenozzle. Along with Malarkey.

According to your link:
"According to Merriam-Webster (as well as The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language), both are acceptable. So, if you've been correcting folks who say turmeric differently than you do, now would be a good time to stop."

Watch the rest of them. Most of them have stupid chef mannerisms. Bowing with their hands together is the main one.

At this point I am hoping for Nini, Bryan, Kevin or Eric to win.

Although, we've already had one season of Eric cooking nothing but West African dishes.

I sound a bit douchey myself. Didn’t mean to!

I bet at least two out of that group will make the finals. Unless some of them have a bad day at the wrong time.

So thought I’d bump this up.

Judges were at their pretentious best.
They sent the chefs to an art museum to draw inspiration for a dish from paintings of 4 periods of art.

Then when the chefs presented their dishes, they actually disagreed with their interpretations.
Chef: “here is what I saw and why I created this dish”
Judges: “you are wrong”

Even worse they criticized some of them for creating a dish that really was more reflective of a different period. Like the chefs are art experts. Or that most of the douchey judges are!

In the end though it was about the food execution.
Jamie was eliminated with dry chicken and not getting his sauce on the chicken. And it was the right choice.

Many hands over hearts with obsequious pandering to the judges compliments. Haha!

The Vegas season was so stacked

This is what I always think too.

Jen
Kevin
Voltaggios
Isabella

Maybe it's not the best, but Isabella got runner up in the first season of all stars and finished 7th that season. He also had a food empire in DC before sexual harassment stuff and the #metoo movement destroyed it.

I don't have any kind of emotional attachment to Jamie, so I'm good with the elimination.

Stephanie Cmar cracks me up, so I'm glad she slid through again. I know she's probably not going to last much longer, but I love her deadpan humor.

Somehow, I'm actually starting to like Lisa! She made it to the finale in her original season, so she's obviously a talented chef, but she was just SUCH a sourpuss, and she seemed as though she was incredibly hard to work with. It looks as though she's mellowed a lot.

Crazy how poor of a showing Lee Anne has had this season.

Catching up on last week.

I'm only halfway through, but thoughts so far:

I HATED the Trolls angle. Kelly Clarkson seems delightful, but the product placement gets tiresome, and I thought that it wasn't really a testament to their abilities.

I cannot deal with Malarkey anymore. He's so smarmy and he creeps me out.

This week's episode:

I truly loved this Quickfire.

Bryan V. is such a different cheftestant this time around. It's obvious that editing played a big part in his original season, what with the "rivalry" with his brother. I knew he was talented, but he's also so likeable! He's humble, and he doesn't take himself too seriously. Crushing hard on Bryan V.

Eric with the flowers! :swoon:

I STILL HATE MALARKEY. Based on the elimination challenge, it looks as though his wife also hates him.
