My plants are young. They've been in the ground about three weeks. Yesterday morning, 3 plants had developed yellow leaves in their "tops", the newest growth.

They are watered with a sprinkler every night, plus I was giving extra each morning. I used a Miracle Grow dry fertilizer.

Any ideas?

How tall are they? Is the soil good? Tight around their roots?

How damp is the soil? If possible water just in the morning and let it dry up throughout the day if you see the leaves wilting, check the soil before just watering more.

Your roots could be underdeveloped right now because they have been getting all the water/nutrients without having to establsih themselves.

Every other day watering should suffice for this time of year.

I really think I overwatered. Didn't hit them with the hose yesterday, and the "problem" did not get worse...might be a bit better. Thx.

As a general rule, try to avoid watering plants at night. Water that gets on the leaves won't dry and can cause fungal infections.

Looks like too much water. Also, try watering in the early morning, watering at night, when the temps are cooler, can lead to problems because the moisture on the leaves doesnt have a chance to evaporate & you can end up with blight, mildew, & fungus issues.

Did you sprinkle the fert on the plants? Looks like fertilizer burn.

Yellow on the leaves close to the stalk usually means too much water, yellow on the leaves on the distal edges usually means not enough water, looks like you have too much

You should water every 3 to 5 days.
