Tipping at the drive-through.

This morning I was handed a device at the drive-through and told to answer a few questions. The single question was how much I wished to tip. I have to think many people would not wish to be pressured to tip a minimum of 15% at a drive-through and many patrons would not return. Am I wrong.

Don't tip and you'll get a surprise in your food when you come back.

Just round up to the nearest dollar. TIPS: To Insure Proper Service. All you’re doing is ordering through a microphone then driving around the corner to pick it up. So my question is where is the service? Are they polite? Have they asked how your day is going? If no then no tip. This is my take on drive through tipping options. Sit down restaurants are another thing , but drive through-they get what they get.

Are they tracking you now? Is that why you can't say where it was?

I just tell them “Don’t bet on the Saints.”

That’s my tip.

Just drive off and keep the “device” and never go back.

Only an idiot business owner would ask for a tip in the drive thru.

However, if I had business in a gullible, self hating, liberal neighborhood, I would add on an automatic 20% service fee. Otherwise dealing with such "people" wouldn't be worth it. May they all burn in hell.

Inclimate weather day at a Chick Fil A where they have 3-4 employees taking orders and 3-4 employees distributing the food would likely get a small tip for me. It cuts time waiting in a drive through line.

We are at the point where every industry expects to be tipped. It's gotten out of hand

Did takeout the other day at a place in NOLA. They charged a 10% surcharge for takeout, which is understandable these days.

Only saw this in the subtotal, never mentioned on the page.

Of course the page is able to pop up an option for additional tip, with 28% as an option. The audacity of some people.

Requesting a tip in the drive through is a slap in the face of every customer.

I’d boycott any place that did this.

You should get a discount for drive-up service.

What place was this?

This is business owners trying to get their employees more money, without having to pay them more salary.

Don't eat fast food much, but if I go to Sonic I always give a couple of dollars cash to the server. Same thing at the Dominos drive thru, not many people working in there and they are busting their a$$, and at least they are trying to work. I always give them a few dollars extra as well.
