There's only one place for BBQ in hattiesburg, and that's Leatha's.

Leatha's hasn't been the same to me since they moved to Hattiesburg. JMHO

Back when it was over in Marion county it was the best. I remember going to USM games with my uncle and we'd always stop to eat at leatha's

There is one near the Scott/Youngsville area but I haven't heard anything good about it. The one is Miss was featured on the food network it looked pretty good.

I ate at the Shed that is just pass Biloxi off I10. I was with a group of guys. All of us (with one exception) liked what they had. It wasn't the best BBQ I've ever had, but it's better than most places around BR. I'd go to it again, but it's not worth making a special trip.

There is a great BBQ place in Destin, well just east of Destin. HWY 98 BBQ right across the highway from Hidden Dunes. Totally legit.

It is probably the best BBQ I have ever eaten.

Nearly the same quote I heard from the person I trust on BBQ. Must be something to it.

Ate at the one in Gulfport about a year or so ago. Wasn't all that impressed. Brisket was 50% fat. Chicken was dry and almost inedible. Had to soak it in sauce just to swallow it. Sauce was good. Everything had a decent flavor, just couldn't get past the fatty brisket and dry chicken.

I had heard a lot of raving about the place from friends and family too. Maybe they were just having an off day.

Maybe if I'm out that way I'll try it again, but I don't intend on making plans just to go there.

Typically southern Mississippi BBQ sauce, at least in my experience, is cloyingly sweet. A lot of people must like tons of sucrose, because the places that serve it, Leatha's for instance, are very popular. I prefer sauces with more tang, a little heat and about a third of the sugar.

I think with all of the bad reviews this place is getting, I may not even go and eat at the Shed when it opens in Hattiesburg.

I kinda find it odd b/c of all of the rave reviews from people I know who have eaten there and the fact it was featured on triple D on the Food network.

FWIW I have also heard the Shed in Hatty will double as a blues joint at night thurs-sat.

don't they also have one near Lafayette? I've never been though

Hwy 93 North or I-10, but don't waste your time or money. I fail to see what the hype is about.
